In the end, one was successful with Alexander Isak joining Liverpool. The other was so nearly successful. Marc Guehi was moments away from joining Liverpool before Crystal Palace pulled the plug on the deal.

Even though the move didn't work out, ultimately Guehi is still very likely to join the club, sooner rather than later when the window opens again in January or on a free transfer in the summer.

On the whole, this has been a very successful transfer window for the club. Even with the disappointment of Guehi at the very end.

Liverpool have brought in some world-class talent and undoubtedly made Arne Slot's side stronger.

And there were even more reinforcements on the final day of the window. Although Isak's arrival took the spotlight, it was also confirmed on Monday that Liverpool will be bringing in one more personnel for Slot's backroom staff.

According to the Training Ground Guru, Liverpool appointed Lewis Mahoney as the club's first Set-Piece Analyst.

This deal happened on Monday's deadline day with Mahoney arriving from Southampton.

Born in Wales, Mahoney started his career as an Academy Performance Analyst at Swansea. He then moved onto Bristol Rovers where he worked as a First-team Performance Analyst for four years.

He has spent the last 18 months working as a Set-piece Analyst at Southampton, helping the club get promoted to the Premier League.

At Liverpool, Mahoney will be working closely alongside Aaron Briggs, who is the club's Set-piece Coach this season.

This is an exciting appointment for Liverpool. The club has struggled with set-pieces this season, particularly when it comes to defending them.

But they also need to be more creative an innovative at attacking set-pieces. Especially, as Trent Alexander-Arnold has now left the club, and Andy Robertson, who took corners is also no longer on the pitch as often.

There are some great set-piece takers in the side, Dominik Szoboszlai proved that against Arsenal. Florian Wirtz is also capable of being effective from dead-ball situations.

Hopefully, Briggs and Mahoney can maximise their potential and give Liverpool another edge in this department as well.
