In June, Hughes completed a total of five new signings for Liverpool. Most notably, securing Florian Wirtz, who is exactly the kind of weapon Arne Slot will be relishing to add to his arsenal.

On to wings, the added speed and energy of Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong will also be very useful.

Meanwhile, the further two additions in the goalkeeping department in Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman have ensured Liverpool are in a good shape with several departures taking place this summer as Caoimhin Kelleher left for Brentford and Vitezslav Jaros and Harvey Davies left on loan.

These were all very smart signings and Hughes is not about to end his activity there. His next priority will be to sign a centre-back and a no.9.

Right now, the no.9 question is up in the air, with the Reds having been unable to sell Darwin Nunez so far, which is required before they commit to bringing in a new player.

However, for the centre-back role, the Reds are closing in on their man. Jarell Quansah is set to join Bayer Leverkusen, which has opened up a squad space that needs to be filled.

And in order to fill that role, Hughes has identified Marc Guehi as the club's first choice target. The Crystal Palace defender, comes with an impressive pedigree and he would 100% be a major upgrade on Quansah, considering he is an England international and has years of experience playing in the Premier League.

With one year left on his current deal at Palace, it feels like there is a deal to be done and that Liverpool are getting ever closer to securing Guehi's services.

The latest report which hints at a deal being close, is the fact that Palace are now nearing an agreement to bring in Guehi's replacement from Sporting CP in Ousmane Diomande.

According to A Bola Palace have reached an agreement to sign Diomande for €55m, with the only discussions left to settle being about his future sell-on clause percentage.

With the deal close for Diomande, you would only image a deal is also close for Guehi to leave Palace, considering they wouldn't be looking to bring in his replacement if that was not the case.

Right now, Liverpool are the only club in talks to sign Guehi, so this feels like a deal that is going to get done pretty soon.

And when it does, Hughes will have delivered another incredible transfer for Liverpool. He just keeps going this summer.

The only deal left after Guehi, will be to sign a no.9 and perhaps that might just be Alexander Isak. Given Hughes' recent track-record, we wouldn't put it past him being able to pull it off.
