A Swede is now definitely coming to Liverpool. But it's not the Swede that you think.

All the focus is on Alexander Isak during the final few days of the window. He's very much the player Richard Hughes has wanted to sign since the start of the summer window.

Michael Edwards has had him on his radar for even longer. He wanted to bring him to Liverpool all the way back in 2016 when Isak was just a teenager breaking through at AIK in Sweden.

The dominoes are starting to fall in place for the Reds to make a club record transfer for Isak. Newcastle United have lined up Nick Woltemade as a replacement and it looks like that deal is going to get over the line.

There are only a few days left until the window shuts, so Liverpool will have to act quickly. But with Isak making his intentions clear, it's inevitable that this deal gets done.

So, one Swede is likely going to be joining the club. But another has already agreed and completed a move to Anfield.

Jasper Vallmark is not a footballer but he is an equally exciting recruit for the club. According to Swedish journalist Maxi Angelo writing on X Vallmark has completed a move to join Richard Hughes' backroom staff as a Scandinavian scout.

The Swedish man joins from IF Elfsborg and he's known as a bit of a maverick.

He has been the hidden genius behind IF Elfsborg’s rise over the last few years.

He developed his own computer program to help identify potential new signings for the club.

Thanks to that work the club were able to bring in a lot of under the radar gems from Scandinavia and Africa, who they sold on for major profit.

This includes Ahmed Qasem who was sold for a club record €4m fee to Nashville. Other notable recruitments from Vallmark's time include Hákon Rafn Valdimarsson, who was later sold to Brentford, Gustaf Lagerbielke who was sold to Celtic and Timothy Ouma who was sold to Slavia Prague.

All of these players were sold for over €2m, which was a massive profit compared to what the club bought them for.

Meanwhile, a more recent acquisition in Terry Yegbe has attracted the attention of Premier League clubs, including Brighton, Fulham and Crystal Palace, and he could be on the move this summer.

Meanwhile, on the pitch Elfsborg qualified for the League Phase of the Europa League last season.

So he's a data guy with an eye for finding gems which makes him the perfect candidate for Liverpool.

Now in his new role he will be tasked with finding the next Isak, Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard.

This is an exciting move from the club and a great recruitment.
