Jurgen Klopp hails two new signings and discusses Liverpool's 'new start'
Jurgen Klopp admitted he is surprised at how quickly his new-look Liverpool side has clicked, while praising new signings Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo.
The Reds' midfield overhaul was much-discussed this summer, with Klopp overseeing the arrival of four new signings, as well as saying goodbye to Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Despite the changes, Liverpool have enjoyed strong start to 2023/24, winning five from six and remaining unbeaten in the Premier League going into the weekend's clash against Spurs.
Klopp has previously dubbed this side 'Liverpool 2.0', while it was new signings Szoboszlai and Endo who made headlines in midweek for their displays in the Reds' Carabao Cup win over Leicester.
Szoboszlai scored a screamer after coming off the bench, while Endo – who got the assist for the Hungarian's strike – was voted Player of the Match by Anfield Watch followers.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Klopp addressed the way his new charges have settled at the club and why things have gone smoothly so far.
He said, via the Liverpool Echo: "Yeah (I am surprised at how quickly it's clicked). We had a good pre-season. That helped definitely. Individually, the quality of the boys is really good. The group is open to new things. We called it a new start."

The manager called the 22-year-old Szoboszlai 'impressive' and 'really smart', while he also hailed Endo's assured Carabao Cup display.
"I am impressed, the boy [Szoboszlai] is impressive, really smart, a good lad who is close with everyone. He was so happy to come here, which was nice to see how much it meant to him. If that's your mood then it's a good situation to play your best football," Klopp said.
"I was not surprised [by Endo's performance]. I was not too happy how I described the situation [against Newcastle]. I am not a native speaker. Dom and Macca have just stepped in and clicked. If we don't give people time anymore what world is this? Endo is a top guy.
"All the attention was on Dominik's goal but the pass was just as good. A top, top pass. Passes we missed in the past, that is the truth. Endo is in a good way and I am really happy for him to show it in the second half."
