It’s written in the stars: ‘outstanding’ ace is destined for Liverpool

Liverpool will want to get back on track and be challenging for the Premier League title next season.

Fans entered the 2025-26 campaign full of hope after the Anfield outfit spent over £400 million on new players with the hopes that their new arrivals would improve their chances of winning the Champions League.

However, history managed to repeat itself in that department after the Reds were knocked out of the competition by Paris Saint-Germain once again.

In addition to this, the transfers of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz have failed to hit the mark which means that more transfers need to be made to try and get the Reds back to their best.

Several players have already been linked with a switch but now, after the latest update to emerge from Anfield, it feels like a deal for one of the Reds' long-term targets could finally come to fruition.

Marcos Senesi is set to leave Bournemouth as a free agent this summer

Marcos Senesi's future has been well-discussed over the last month or so.

The Argentinian centre-back has been linked with a move to several top Premier League clubs with his Bournemouth exit now being officially confirmed.

Although the signing of the centre-back may not be the flashiest addition of them all, it would certainly be a smart move, especially since he's got plenty of Premier League experience under his belt already.

In fact, this season alone his performances have helped lead Bournemouth to sixth place in the Premier League, just four points behind the Reds.

And now, a fresh update from Ben Jacobs has given Liverpool's fanbase a new sign of hope that a move for the Argentinian could be on the cards.

"Bournemouth confirm Marcos Senesi will leave as a free agent," he wrote via his personal X account.

"Club have known about the departure since last year and both parties agreed on no January exit.

"Spurs already have an agreement on terms with Senesi if they stay up.

"Manchester United have shown interest, while Liverpool yet to decide whether to make a move.

"Could be contingent on whether Ibrahima Konate remains."

Marcos Senesi is the perfect replacement for Ibrahima Konate at Liverpool

Although Ibrahima Konate's new contract has been spoken about a lot this year, it now feels like crunch time is upon us.

The club and the Frenchman are yet to agree on terms for one reason or another and, with the 2026 World Cup now just around the corner, a decision has to be made soon.

Indeed, signing Senesi while Konate is still at the club wouldn't make all that much sense but, if terms can't be agreed upon for a new contract with Konate, the Reds will be severely lacking in experience.

Of course, Virgil van Dijk will still be present but, with Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet likely to need some additional guidance, another experience centre-back alongside the towering Dutchman is well needed.

The fact that the "outstanding" defender wouldn't cost Liverpool a penny in transfer fees is also a major selling point as it would mean that the club could focus their attention on other areas of the pitch without having any financial constraints.

There are obviously loads of pros and cons for Liverpool to explore before making a final decision but, if Konate doesn't end up staying, it's hard to see why Arne Slot and Richard Hughes wouldn't at least make an offer for the Argentinian.
