Liverpool are reportedly pushing for a €28m deal and it's one that could see another star leave the club. A massive one to kickoff the January window.

Liverpool enter the January transfer window with plans. There's no doubt about that.

Their form over the first half of the campaign essentially forces them to make things happen, especially as that form has come on the back of the team just not clicking together. The summer's overhaul hasn't delivered instant results (positive ones, anyway) and change must happen.

Giovanni Leoni's injury also puts Liverpool in a difficult position. They're down to three centre-backs and that's quickly become a problem with Joe Gomez lacking fitness.

Liverpool have frequently been down to just two senior options there. It's all very reminiscent of 2020/21.

They'll likely move to rectify that in January, though. Liverpool have their eyes on other defenders and it seems they're ready to bid for one.

Wilfried Singo to Anfield?

Foot Sur in France reports that Liverpool have moved to sign Wilfried Singo from Galatasaray. The Turkish giants only signed the player in the summer but there’s now interest in him already from major European clubs.

Liverpool are one of those and it’s a potential signing that could see Joe Gomez depart. The defender is the club’s longest-serving current player but he nearly departed back in August.

AC Milan were keen to get a deal done and pushed hard - something they will likely try again in January. The only reason it didn’t go through back in the summer was because Marc Guehi didn’t arrive.

Now, Guehi might arrive in 2026 and we’ll see about that. Singo, though, would replace him almost exactly as a centre-back who can cover at right-back.

Doing so would replace Gomez while also leaving the door open for Ibrahima Konate to renew his contract. Guehi arguably wouldn’t do that - he’s take the Frenchman’s place.

Singo, then, feels like a Gomez replacement and one that could trigger the player’s exit this winter. Certainly that feels like the plan.
