Insider CONFIRMS Liverpool's 'dream' forward
Liverpool will soon require a permanent successor to Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian King, 33, will perhaps go down as the best player in the club’s modern history but all good things must come to an end.
Salah has been beneath his best this season - a far cry from the player who led the club to the Premier League title last term.
It has led to speculation that sporting director Richard Hughes may be prepared to sanction a departure for the two-time African footballer of the year.
Salah could depart in 2026
The winger is contracted to the Anfield club until 2027 - but we may see a move materialise in 2026 if the right conditions arise.
Saudi Arabian clubs are known to be keen to add Salah to the ranks and a 2026 sale could suit Liverpool for two big reasons.
Firstly, amid diminishing returns the club could rid themselves of Salah’s £400k per week wages - freeing up resource that could be used on other players.
And secondly, Liverpool would bank a fee for Salah instead of losing him for free a year later. If that happens then a gap all of sudden opens up in Liverpool’s attack.
Michael Olise is Liverpool's DREAM
And who better to fill it than Michael Olise.
The Frenchman has been in sensational form since swapping Crystal Palace for Bayern Munich in 2024 and has legitimately been among the world’s best players this season.
Under contract at Bayern until 2029 it would take a sizeable offer to bring the Bundesliga side to the table and it’s been speculated that a fee of €130m to €140m would be required.
German transfer expert Florian Plettenberg has now weighed in on the transfer saga - confirming that Olise IS a target for Richard Hughes at Anfield.
However, Liverpool fans hoping to see Olise arrive anytime soon are going to be disappointed as there are several reasons to believe this transfer is NOT imminent.
Liverpool not yet planning Olise offer
“Liverpool are fond of Michael #Olise and view him as a future dream target,” he writes on X.
“However, despite other reports, they are not planning an offer at this stage. He is currently not a concrete transfer target for #LFC.
“Main reasons: he does not have a release clause in his contract, FC Bayern are not open to talks, and Olise himself is not inclined to leave. Liverpool are currently focused on Antoine Semenyo.”
Bayern are said to be keen to tie the 23-year-old down for even longer given his outrageous start to the season.
He has scored nine goals and provided 10 assists in only 18 matches - helping Vincent Kompany’s side to the top of the German league table.
