And that's really the big takeaway from all of this. Jota was - still is - an incredibly respected person in the game.

Everything that's come out about him paints a picture of no ego, down to earth, and humble. They're not traits that are easy to find at the top level anymore.

But the respect for Jota is clear to see and this is an unbelievably tragic loss. One that leaves everyone rocked and unable to process.

That's certainly where we are - it's difficult to know here to go from here.

Tributes to Diogo Jota

Both Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé showed their love for Jota at the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday evening. The France internationals scored late goals in their respective fixtures and used their celebrations to honour him.

Dembélé sat down after his goal to do Jota's video game-style celebration. A clear nod there and one that you're sure to see a lot more of this season.

Mbappé paid a different tribute - he went to a camera and held up the number 20 on his fingers before clasping his hands together. It was a muted but touching gesture.

Ibrahima Konaté, international teammate of both players, made sure to recognise their respect.

Konaté was clearly close with Jota and uploaded a wonderful video to his Instagram in tribute to his teammate. That was just one of a number of brilliant messages posted by Liverpool personnel.

But this really doesn't get much easier, does it? Jota's death is a truly tragic event that has completely shifted perspective at and around Liverpool.
