Liverpool's next midfield sensation is going to be Lamine Camara, and he's brilliant.

Richard Hughes is going to be looking for a midfielder this summer, and it's clear the Senegalese star is going to be at the top of the shortlist.

There has been little to no progress on contract renewals for Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, despite talks dragging on for more than six months. Both are tied down until 2027/28 and while the Hungarian is expected to agree a new deal, the same cannot be said for the Argentine.

Mac Allister is attracting attention from Manchester United and Real Madrid, while Szoboszlai is also on the radar of the Spanish side.

Curtis Jones is another situation to monitor, with the midfielder entering the final year of his contract and potentially heading for the exit.

With Liverpool securing Ryan Gravenberch's long-term future, it's clear that Hughes will now be looking to find someone to partner the Dutchman, and replace either Jones or Mac Allister.

At this moment in time, Liverpool are lacking intensity in their midfield. Mac Allister has never been a midfielder who was fast but he seems to have lost a touch of pace this season making him look even slower.

It's clear he is incapable of covering a lot of ground required for Liverpool's midfield to function well.

Mac Allister has become a vulnerable point to exploit for opposition sides who can now cleave Liverpool widen open.

The dream for Liverpool would be to replace the Argentine with Elliot Anderson, who plays on the left-side of midfield and who is on paper the most perfect option to fix the intensity in the middle of the park.

But the reality is that there is an understand between industry experts close to the situation that Anderson is bound for Man City. Anfield Watch understands, the Nottingham Forest midfielder will likely end-up there.

Even if he wanted to join Liverpool, Hughes does not have an endless amount of budget. He also needs to replace Mo Salah, explore the right-back and left-back market and probably bring in another winger as well.

With all of those to take into consideration spending something close to £80m to £100m on Anderson doesn't make much sense.

Instead, the club's sporting director will be looking at Lamine Camara. It's an obvious choice. Anfield Watch understands he is on Liverpool's radar, and if we take a look at his numbers, it's easy to see why.

No one has won more possessions (8.01 per 90 minutes) in Ligue 1 than Camara.

He has also covered an impressive 11.36km per 90 minutes for Monaco in the Champions League this season. Camara is capable of covering a lot of spaces and that makes him the perfect profile.

The fact that Liverpool are looking at him would indicate that the club's scouts are in agreement over that, too.

On top of that, there's his age profile. He's 22-years-old but already has so much experience for someone so young - his sample size is impressive and Liverpool will like that a lot.

Ultimately, Liverpool have been waiting for a profile like Camara to emerge on the market. They tried to sign Moises Caicedo, Martin Zubimendi and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Now, Camara is finally here, and it just feels like he is destined to be Liverpool's next midfield sensation.
