"Going to be" - Lee Dixon makes a prediction regarding Liverpool forward

Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon has made a prediction regarding Liverpool's latest signing Luis Diaz.

The Reds signed the winger from Porto for a transfer fee of €45 million back in January. Diaz has had a reasonable start to life at Anfield.

The Colombia international scored his first goal for the club against Norwich City at Anfield (Premier League clash) back in February.

Diaz also played well for Liverpool during the League Cup final last week. The forward registered a WhoScored player rating of 6.79 against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

Dixon is confident that the early signs suggest that Diaz will be a top player for Liverpool.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the 57-year-old told ITV the following: "Luis Diaz is going to be a proper player for this football club."

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Dixon. Diaz appears to be a very good player.

To be fair, it was obvious that the club had signed a good player. Diaz scored 41 goals and secured 19 assists in 125 matches for Porto.

We only expect the 25-year-old to get better because he is training/playing alongside some top-class forwards (Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota etc).

It is common knowledge that surrounding yourself with better players ultimately improves your performance.

Also, Liverpool do possess an ageing forward line. The likes of Roberto Firmino, Salah and Mane are all aged above 29. The aforementioned players can't represent the club forever.

As we have already pointed out, Diaz is reasonably young. The forward is arguably a long-term replacement for one of Firmino, Salah or Mane.

But, Diaz can sit back and learn from the current attacking players at the club for the time being. We look forward to seeing how he develops over time.
