A father has confirmed Liverpool have made contact to sign his son.

The Reds are definitely looking to add more depth to their ranks come the summer transfer window.

Two areas where Richard Hughes are going to be exploring his options is on the wings and at full-back. The Liverpool sporting director knows that right now Arne Slot simply doesn't have enough one vs one quality and speed in his attack.

Meanwhile, Hughes will also be aware of the fact that Andy Robertson is set to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract. On top of that, the right-back issue remains. Conor Bradley is not expected to return from his injury until the latter part of the year. Slot clearly does not view Frimpong as a genuine option at right-back, preferring to play him as a winger instead.

This is why Dominik Szoboszlai has been deployed as a right-back for much of the campaign but it's very clear that he cannot be a long-term option there.

Liverpool need him in midfield.

Liverpool could hit two birds with one stone if they are to sign the latest name being linked with the club.

According to the father of Roland Sallai, Szoboszlai's international teammate, Liverpool have already made contact to sign the Galatasaray winger.

"Liverpool could be such a destination, and I admit, I wouldn't be surprised if this club change happened now, in the winter," Tibor Sallai told Blikk.

"I know that contact has already been made through a management office. I don't want to and I don't want to shout anything, but my son will really have a good chance in the summer, if there is an offer that is also beneficial for Galatasaray, to change country and level. It wouldn't be just any moment if Liverpool were to run out onto the Anfield Road turf with three Hungarians in the starting lineup."

Sallai's father is referencing the fact that Liverpool already have Milos Kerkez and Szoboszlai playing for them.

Here's why this could be a really good move for Liverpool. While Sallai is a little bit on the more experienced side he is an extremely versatile player.

Predominantly, he is a winger. He has been playing that position ever since he started his career in senior football.

But this season Sallai has also become a right-back at Galatasaray. He's played really well in that position, impressing against Juventus and Manchester City in the Champions League, while coming up against some really tricky wingers.

So, there should be no surprise that he would be on Liverpool's radar. Sallai is the type of player Liverpools' recruitment team have loved over the last few years.

He can solve a problem at right-back, he can provide depth on the wings, and on top of that he's even played through the middle for Hungary's national team, so he could potentially be used as a false nine, too.
