Fabrizio Romano has confirmed one Liverpool star plans to leave the club.

There has been a lot of new faces coming into the AXA training centre for pre-season this summer. In total with Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz and Freddie Woodman, Liverpool have already completed six new signings.

Richard Hughes isn't resting on his laurels at the moment either. Marc Guehi is another possible arrival. Meanwhile, the Reds are in talks to sign Hugo Ekitike.

Beyond that, Liverpool have targeted the likes of Alexander Isak and Rodrygo, so there could still yet be plenty of excitement at the club until the transfer window shuts close in September.

Crucially, amid the influx of new signings there will be notable departures as well, and Liverpool have already lost some key players from last season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is obviously the biggest miss, things ended bitterly for him at Anfield, as he left his boyhood club on a free transfer.

Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah have also departed which has left a gaping abyss in the club's homegrown department.

As things stand, Liverpool actually have 18 non-homegrown players registered and this is without Hugo Ekitike potentially coming in.

If he joins, there will be 19 non-homegrown players but the Premier League only allows the registration of 17. What this means is that it's almost inevitable some of the club's current players are going to leave.

You will probably expect movement in the left-back department where with Kerkez's arrival there are now three non-homegrown players in the position. Kostas Tsimikas looks the likeliest to leave but it remains to be seen what happens there.

In the Reds' attack, there is also a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez. Neither were fancied by Arne Slot last season and did not get a lot of playing time but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool get an offer they are satisfied with in order to offload them.

Most surprisingly though Luis Diaz's stance on leaving the club is the strongest out of the current players in the squad. Diaz was a key player for Slot last season and yet he seems very keen on departing the Reds.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on a recent post in X that he plans to leave Liverpool this summer. Bayern Munich seem keen on the Colombian's services and Romano claims they are going to make another bid for him soon.

Losing Diaz would be a real shame but the reality is that something has to give. Liverpool will have too many non-homegrown players heading into the season and that means players will have to leave.

At this stage, the likeliest to depart are Diaz, Tsimikas and Nunez. Chiesa could end-up staying put but even if the aforementioned trio leave and Ekitike arrives, Liverpool will only have one non-homegrown spot remaining.

Whether that will go to Rodrygo, Isak or someone else remains to be seen.
