Liverpool are expected to make a huge transfer move for Alexander Isak next week.

The summer window closes on September 1 and only two weeks are left for business to be finalised.

Isak has decided to not feature on the pitch for Newcastle until he gets his move away from the club and the situation that the club has been left in cannot continue. Going into the season without the issue being resolved would be a particularly bold choice when Liverpool want to make an approach.

All that needs to happen is for a replacement striker to be brought to Tyneside and the Reds might finally get the encouragement they need for negotiations to take place, but time is running out.

Advisor expects Isak to join Liverpool

In conversation with Football Insider, Stefan Borson, a former financial advisor to Manchester City and expert in his field gave his view on what happens with Isak's rumoured move to Liverpool.

He said: "I guess we've got to a point now where I think probably most likely, if you were betting on it, you'd say Liverpool put forward a deal that's sort of £125m plus a load of add-ons, some easy and some not easy, and it gets done after the Newcastle v Liverpool game and he joins Liverpool.

"I think if we'd have looked at it at the start of the summer, you'd have said Liverpool have to pay close to £150m. If he does end up going now, I think they have successfully chipped off £10-15m of his fee."

Of course, nothing is certain and spending such an insane amount of money right before the transfer window closes would be a huge decision to make at the last minute, but the executives will likely have been considering the move all summer long, just waiting for Newcastle to give it the green light.

Liverpool's net spend is down below £100m right now and so the financial power to make a deal happen is certainly available, but it feels like time is very much of the essence here and we're running out, although any potential deal would require Newcastle to change their current stance.

We'll only see movement on that front if a striker goes through the door at St James' Park and that has proved to be difficult all summer long, so there's still plenty of jigsaw pieces to fall into place.

But Liverpool are in need of attacking recruits and so Borson's prediction from a financial expert perspective might not be far wrong. No club was ever likely to pay the full £150m asking price.

And if his view of the situation is right, then next week is going to be the time where the cogs start to turn, although just remember, that's the week before the transfer window closes. It'll be nip and tuck.
