One European giant has made contact with Liverpool over a last-minute transfer.

There is barely any time left until the window shuts. We've got just less than 72 hours until it's all over.

Well, until January, or maybe December, when things all start to kick-up again and we are back talking about transfers.

In the meantime, Liverpool could be in for a wild ride. We've still got Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi to get over the line.

Then there is the possibility of moving for Morgan Rogers. If Liverpool can pull off all three, it would be an incredible end to the window.

At this moment in time, it's not guaranteed. So much depends on what other clubs are going to do.

Can Palace sign two defenders to replace Guehi? Can Newcastle bring at least one forward in so that Isak can be freed?

We just don't know. Liverpool simply have to hope for the best and have their fingers crossed that a pathway will open for them to bring in the reinforcements that they want.

But it's not just exciting new arrivals that Liverpool fans can expect in the last hours of the window. There may be some poignant farewells.

Especially for Harvey Elliott, who it seems like has been open to a move away from Anfield last summer.

After an impressive U21 Euro campaign and limited minutes for Liverpool's first team last season, it's easy to see why Elliott would be willing to move on.

At the same time, he has been with the club since he was 16-years-old and Liverpool clearly means a lot to him. Both him and his dad are supporters of the Reds.

Leaving is not going to be an easy decision for Liverpool. Yet, he has options and reluctantly if Liverpool get an offer that is desirable they could yet part ways with the 22-year-old.

And there is a club who is pushing to sign him. According to Paul Joyce from The Times RB Leipzig have now made 'direct contact' with Liverpool over a transfer for Elliott.

At this moment in time the Reds are reluctant to sell. However, Leipzig need a replacement for Simons and Elliott seems like a perfect fit.

Jurgen Klopp is also at the club, who knows Elliott well. On top of that, Leipzig should have the funds to go big for Elliott and satisfy Liverpool's needs.

So, we can't just rule it out. It will be a last-minute transfer but it's one that is worth keeping an eye on.

Will we bring Trent back rather than let him go to city, or has he burnt all his bridges.
