€70m Liverpool transfer to replace Luis Diaz is now ON
An exciting deal is now very much on for Liverpool to eventually replace Luis Diaz.
There aren't any ways to hide from it. Liverpool are missing the Colombian winger right now. Diaz wanted to leave the Reds after he could not get the contract he felt he deserved.
He's gone onto thrive at Bayern Munich. Leaving us wondering what could have been.
Right now, Liverpool fans are forced to watch Cody Gakpo struggling in his one vs ones and not really creating the the kind of impact Diaz was able to do.
Gakpo doesn't have the speed, the intensity or the power that Diaz had. The now Bayern winger could break defences in two and he would obliterate opponents with his silky control and pure burst of speed.
Liverpool need that speed in the side again and they need to attack the market in order to ultimately replace the Colombian.
You could make the argument that it's something Hughes should have done a lot earlier. It's something he has been trying to do for a while.
First Anthony Gordon was pursued in the summer of 2024. Then it was Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the January window. By all accounts Antoine Semenyo was looked at in the summer.
He is a transfer Liverpool could also explore in the winter window this year. But there might be a better fit and someone who could fix that left-wing position for the next decade.
Antonio Nusa is a player who Liverpool have had on their radar for a while. He fits into the club's philosophy in his style of play.
Nusa plays with a lot of intensity and he excels in one vs one situations. He's extremely fast and very good at taking players on. Having been schooled in the Red Bull philosophy at RB Leipzig, he fits into Liverpool's transfer policy and system.
Over the years, the Reds have signed so many players from Red Bull clubs and these have often been a success. Just take a look at Ibrahima Konate, Dominik Szoboszlai and Takumi Minamino. Sadio Mane had also played at Red Bull Salzburg though he arrived from Southampton.
Nusa could be the next in line.
And he's going to be on the move in the summer.
RB Leipzig journalist Philipp Hinze confirmed that Leipzig are open to selling Nusa in the summer window for a realistic figure of €60m–€70m.
In this day and age even at that higher bracket that is a bargain for Nusa. So, this deal looks like it's on. But Liverpool will have to wait until the summer.
