A €35m offer will be enough to see a special centre-back join Liverpool.

Even after securing the signing of Jeremy Jacquet, Liverpool’s need for another centre-back remains.

Largely because of the contractual uncertainty surrounding key defenders. The most immediate concern is Ibrahima Konate, whose deal is expiring at the end of the season.

Konate is likely to leave the club at this stage. Although hope remains until the final day there is a sense this could be a Trent 2.0 situation, which would increase the need for Liverpool to add more bodies on top of Jacquet.

Beyond Konate, there are other issues to consider.

Both Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk are contracted until 2027. While that may seem distant, top clubs plan their defensive succession years in advance.

Van Dijk, in particular, cannot be expected to anchor the back line indefinitely, and relying on multiple defenders entering the final two years of their contracts at the same time creates risk.

Which is why Liverpool will be in the market for another centre-back.

There will be multiple players on the club's radar and among them according to Sports Boom will be Finn Jeltsch.

Jeltsch has rapidly become one of the most talked-about defensive talents in Europe after his strong performances for VfB Stuttgart this season under Sebastian Hoeness.

The 19-year-old has stood out for his reading of the game and incredible composure on the ball. He is capable of dictating the game from the back and loves to play forward.

Jeltsch ranks among the top 10 centre-backs for forward pass accuracy in the Bundesliga, completing 83% of his 19.05 attempts per 90 minutes.

According to Sports Boom, top European clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich have all expressed varying levels of interest in securing Jeltsch’s signature.

Scouts from Liverpool and Arsenal have been present at Stuttgart’s matches throughout the season.

According to Sports Boom's report, while Stuttgart are reluctant to seel Jeltsch a 'monumental' offer in the region of €30m–€35m could force them to sell.

The report goes onto say that an early aggressive bid from Liverpool or Arsenal could trigger a sale.

So, it looks like the German side are open to offers and in all fairness €35m is a bargain price for a defender who has been likened to Mats Hummels and who is regarded as one of Germany's brightest talents.

Elite defenders are routinely valued well beyond £50–60 million, particularly those with top-flight experience and international pedigree.

Jeltsch, despite being just 19, has already shown maturity beyond his years in the Bundesliga. Securing a defender with that level of composure, positional intelligence, and technical ability at that price would be an incredibly shrewd signing from the Reds.
