Arne Slot will look silly as transfer of 'clever' star edges closer
Arne Slot has made a fair few questionable decisions this season.
The Dutchman came into the 2025-26 season with plenty of pressure upon his shoulders after Liverpool won the Premier League last term.
And, to make matters worse, Richard Hughes chose to spend around £450 million on new players to improve their ranks which made most football fans believe that the Anfield outfit would be untouchable.
However, with the club sitting fifth in the Premier League and 2-0 down against Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the second leg of their Champions League tie, it's clear that they've not been at their best.
Indeed, some of the decisions made will have been done with gritted teeth but this latest choice could make Slot look completely bonkers.
Tottenham have an agreement in place for Andy Robertson
Over the last couple of weeks Liverpool fans have found out that Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson will both be exiting L4 at the end of the current season.
So, this means that yet another summer of change is afoot which could put Liverpool even further back than they currently find themselves.
And, even though it was probably time for Robertson to end his Liverpool career, this latest update from Fabrizio Romano could make Slot look rather silly.
"Tottenham have a verbal agreement to sign Andy Robertson in June 2026, all terms in place," he wrote.
"Nothing signed/sealed yet as staying in Premier League will be a key factor ahead of proceeding.
"Robertson, ready to pick Tottenham project if relegation battle has positive outcome."
Arne Slot will look silly if Andy Robertson becomes a regular starter for Tottenham
In the games that Robertson has played this season, it's clear that there's still a more than capable player within him.
The Scotsman has often outperformed Milos Kerkez when called upon with the Hungarian still trying to find his feet at Anfield after his £40 million+ move from Bournemouth in the summer.
Indeed, since Kerkez is only 22 years old, it's clear that he's the future of Liverpool but, without the 'clever' Robertson mentoring him, it's unclear whether he'll be able to reach his full potential or not.
However, with the lack of playing time that Robertson got this term, it's clear to see why he wanted to jump ship.
But, if Tottenham do survive and the Scotsman joins them, he could easily become their first-choice left-back and, if he re-finds his form from previous seasons, Slot could be made to look very silly.
That is, especially since the Reds' back up next season is very likely to be Kostas Tsimikas who has only played 24 games for AS Roma this term.
