There were plenty of lessons to take from Liverpool's draw against Arsenal.

For one Liverpool right-back it was a lesson about loyalty. About what happens when you turn your back on the club that gave you everything and decide to abandon them for the pompous riches of a certain club in Spain.

Trent Alexander-Arnold may get all the money and the fame he desires in Madrid, but he will never get the same affection that he got at Liverpool.

He won't get that at Anfield now either. That was clear from the chorus of boos that rung around when he was brought onto the pitch.

Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool's past. Meanwhile, Conor Bradley is Liverpool's future.

But that wasn't the only lesson against Arsenal. In the first half, it was apparent Slot was trialling a new tactic.

Both of Liverpool's full-backs in Bradley and Andy Robertson played a far more advanced role. That's how Robertson was able to provide an assist and why Bradley was often seen on the edges of Arsenal's defensive third.

With how appreciative Slot has been on Paris Saint Germain lately it seems like the Liverpool boss is taking a page out of the French side's book in the way they use Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes.

After all against Arsenal, Slot was preparing for next season. These games are an extra pre-season for Liverpool. A way to test out different methods of playing.

Which is why Bradley's more advanced positioning was so interesting. Especially amid all the rumours linking the club to Jeremie Frimpong - a player who is equally as advanced of a right-back or wing-back as Bradley.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Frimpong is one of the main players on the shortlist.

Around the same time, Paul Joyce writing in The Times said Frimpong was a leading candidate for Liverpool.

He has a release clause in his contract worth €35m - which makes him an absolute bargain - and it also makes him just the perfect signing.

Now Slot's selection may have pretty much confirmed that these rumours are true and that Frimpong could indeed be heading to Liverpool this summer.

Slot's decision to instruct his full-backs to push further up the pitch against Arsenal is a huge clue about Liverpool's intentions to sign Frimpong, and why those rumours may not just simply be rumours.

It seems like Slot's plan to deal with the void left behind by Alexander-Arnold is to push the full-backs to play a lot higher up the pitch, while allowing players like Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo to come inside - basically returning to a system of overlapping full-backs again.

For that purpose, there's no one better on the market than Frimpong. He's practically made for this system and Slot's choice today to deploy it may have just been a massive clue about where Liverpool stand with the arrival of the Bayer Leverkusen defender.

With that release clause being in place, it's an easy deal for Liverpool to complete and it would not be a surprise to see Frimpong become the club's first signing of the summer.
