Arne Slot confident injury WON'T rule Liverpool star out for season

Arne Slot is sounding confident that one Liverpool star won't miss the rest of the season. That's despite a horror injury.

Injuries have torn through the Liverpool squad this season and it's making life difficult for Arne Slot. The Reds just can't catch a break with long-term issues.

Giovanni Leoni was the first to go. His debut ended in disaster as a knee injury forced him off and into surgery. It's a situation that leaves Liverpool with just three senior centre-backs - and Joe Gomez has struggled to remain fit himself.

Alexander Isak was the next to suffer. He fractured his leg against Tottenham Hotspur as he scored a goal. Again, surgery was required and he hasn't been seen since.

Conor Bradley completed the trifecta recently as he damaged his knee against Arsenal. That again led to surgery - and a long time out of the side.

Arne Slot sounds hopeful

Arne Slot was asked about injuries in his press conference on Friday and he was quick to go through just how dire it is. The Dutchman mentioned Leoni being out for the season, then said Bradley is also out for the season.

On Isak, though, he essentially confirmed that the Swede isn't out for the season. Instead, he said Isak will 'miss many months' - a striking line after using the exact same 'out for the season' line to describe both Leoni and Bradley.

Now, whether Liverpool can get Isak back this season at a top level is another matter. It does, however, sound as though he'll play again before things draw to a close - hopefully for a good few games.

It remains to be seen what the situation will be come then, with Liverpool certainly out of the title race but hoping to compete in the UEFA Champions League. Memories of Djibril Cisse fracturing his leg only to return and score a penalty in the final shootout come to mind, admittedly.

He was also the club-record signing in his debut season, of course. Fingers crossed that's the kind of happy ending we get to this injury situation.
