Alexander Isak has just saved Liverpool from making a massive mistake
Liverpool have been the talk of the town over the last few months.
Several things have gone on at Anfield which nobody expected to happen.
Mohamed Salah's future was thrown up in the air and, now that Alexander Isak is injured, some are even speculating that Federico Chiesa might actually get a start.
And, as annoying as Isak's injury is for Liverpool, it could have ended up saving them from making a massive mistake.
Liverpool set to keep Mohamed Salah after Alexander Isak's injury
As mentioned, Salah's future has been up in the air after the Egyptian King was benched by Arne Slot for three games in a row.
Of course, being benched wasn't likely the only reason Salah said what he did but the fact that it was said shows how bad things had gotten at Anfield.
And, now that he's away at AFCON it's likely given both parties a chance to reassess the situation and with Isak's recent injury, it now seems like the attacker is set to stay at Anfield.
That is, according to an update from Ben Jacobs who shared that due to Isak's injury a mid-season exit for Salah isn't likely.
"Mo Salah is likely to stay at Liverpool beyond the winter window. This has always been Liverpool's preference and the hope is Salah's participation in AFCON will now allow all parties time to clear the air," he said.
"Sources close to Salah also feel Alexander Isak's leg injury means Liverpool are unlikely to sanction a mid-season exit."
Liverpool keeping Mohamed Salah is the best thing that they could do
Times have been tough for Liverpool and Salah over the last couple of months.
Nothing that they've tried seems to have gone right with each formation they test resulting in failure.
And, even though Salah's playing style hasn't seemed to work for the Reds this season, the fact that he contributed to over 50 of Liverpool's goals last term cannot be overlooked.
Indeed, he's not going to reach the same levels that he did last season but if he can adapt his game or finetune it so that he can become productive once again, the Reds would be onto a winner.
He's still contracted to the club until 2027 and with the lack of attacking depth they now have among their ranks, him staying with Slot's men could end up being key to their Champions League hopes.
These are all just ifs, buts and maybes at the moment but with the way things seem to be panning out, Liverpool fans are likely to have Salah leading their line once again when he returns from AFCON.
