40-goal striker is coming to save Liverpool
An exciting forward could rescue Liverpool's season.
Arne Slot has a problem. It was obvious to see against Fulham at the weekend.
Even though Richard Hughes brought in two strikers during the summer transfer window, there's still not enough depth at the club.
With Alexander Isak out with a long-term injury and Hugo Ekitike also struggling with a muscle problem, Liverpool need to add a third option to their attack.
But do they actually need to sign a plater?
What if the answer lies from within. What if Hughes had already signed the striker who could come in and save Liverpool's season?
We mentioned above that Liverpool signed two forwards during the summer transfer window. Well, that's not exactly true. They actually signed three.
It's just the fact that most people have forgotten about the third forward.
Will Wright arrived at the club with a lot of hype. He scored over 40 goals for Salford City at academy level last season and the Reds beat Arsenal to his signature.
Against Athletic Bilbao during a first-team friendly at Anfield, Hughes almost scored with his first touch of the game, and that created a lot of buzz around him.
Ultimately, though he slotted into Rob Page's U21 side, and played for the club in the UEFA Youth League, where he suffered an injury back in September.
This injury ruled him out for the majority of the rest of the year but he's been back in training since December and he's making excellent progress in his recovery.
Academy expert, Lewis Bower has reported that Wright has been regularly training with the first-team and that he recently scored five goals in a friendly for the U21s.
He's only just turned 18-years-old and he's still got a long way to go but the way he has bounced back from his injury set-back is exciting.
Obviously, Liverpool will be careful not to rush him back and overload him with too much playing time too soon.
However, given Isak's long-term injury, Wright now has a massive opportunity to become the saviour of the season.
If he can get himself match fit, he could easily take the load off of Ekitike's shoulder and reduce the burden of having to always rely on the Frenchman.
This could come as early as next week when Liverpool take on Barnsley in the FA Cup.

First and foremost, Arne Slot has o change his views regarding using young players, I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this will never happen.
