17-goal wonderkid is coming to save Liverpool
Liverpool have a 17-goal wonderkid who can save the season if he's promoted to the first-team.
Right now Liverpool are struggling because Arne Slot doesn't quite have enough options in his squad. Against Nottingham Forest he was forced to play Alexander Isak, who isn't match-fit at all.
Rotation is going to be necessary from now until the end of the season.
Slot needs more firepower upfront. He needs someone who can get the ball to Isak and link the attack and the midfield together.
For that an incredibly talented wonderkid from Liverpool's academy might be the answer. Someone who already has 17 goal contributions this season.
Someone who plays in the style of Roberto Firmino and who can be the heir to the Brazilian's throne at Anfield.
Josh Sonni-Lambie has stepped up time and time again for Liverpool at youth level this season. He scored when promoted to the U19s, he registered a crucial assist and made a game changing cameo when playing for the U21s against Chesterfield in the EFL Trophy and he's been the star of the U18 team.
At the weekend, Sonni-Lambie scored and assisted in the U18 Premier League Cup against Newcastle United to help the Reds to a 2-1 victory.
The goal and the assist has taken him to 17 goal contributions in 20 games. It's an incredible return from the 17-year-old and it's a message to Liverpool's first-team.
Sonni-Lambie is ready for an opportunity. He's doing everything he can and right now when Liverpool need a player profile like him, he deserves to be given a chance.
Not only does he work tirelessly off the ball, Sonni-Lambie is also someone thrives in the half spaces. He's good at finding pockets and linking-up with his teammates.
That link-up play is his best ability. It's why even though he's a forward, he's often been played as a false nine or as an attacking midfielder just behind the striker.
Considering Dominik Szoboszlai has been forced to play right-back and Florian Wirtz is injured for the foreseeable future Sonni-Lambie could easily become Liverpool's saviour.
Against Forest, Liverpool struggled to get the ball to Isak and then Hugo Ekitike as well. Sonni-Lambie can be the answer to that solution.
It's time Slot uses him.
