Richard Hughes timeline set to complete €40m Liverpool transfer
Richard Hughes has already been fairly busy during the 2026-27 summer transfer window as he's already signed a player for Liverpool.
Victor Munoz is the Reds' first signing of the season with the Spaniard coming in to help ease the loss of Mohamed Salah.
He can play anywhere across the front three so, while Hugo Ekitike is out of action, he could even be used as a number nine to give Alexander Isak a rest.
During Jurgen Klopp's time in charge of Liverpool, this would be his only signing of the window but, since there are so many areas among the Reds' ranks that need bolstering, at least another three or four players need to be brought in.
Several players have already been linked with joining the club and, now that it's clear that deals can be done before the World Cup is finished, fans are likely to see their clubs making more moves in the near future.
In fact, one deal has already been given a timeline despite there still being months left of the transfer window.
Liverpool have until 30 June to sign Khephren Thuram from Juventus
Liverpool's midfield is likely to be the next area of their team to get a bit of a shakeup.
Even though it's their most stacked area at the moment, changes still need to be made.
Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch were poor and, since Curtis Jones already has one foot out of the exit door, it's like the club have three players to re-jig or replace.
If Liverpool want to challenge for silverware again, signing a new midfielder or two is going to be essential.
Many central midfielders have already been linked with a switch but, if the Reds want to sign Khephren Thuram, they'll have to move fast.
That is, if an update from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport is to be believed.
"The important thing is to realize a capital gain of €12-13 million [is needed for Juventus] by June 30th and then continue the work during the 2026/27 financial year, which will be weakened by the loss of Champions League revenue, which must be the prelude to reaching break-even, postponed to 2027-28," they wrote.
"The other big name in the balance is Khéphren Thuram, another of Juventus' top players who could leave.
"Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia would make golden bridges for the Frenchman, who, however, doesn't appear interested, just as he doesn't seem to be tempted by Galatasaray.
"The target, should he leave Juve, would be the Premier League, where Liverpool and Manchester United, as well as Nottingham Forest, are reportedly moving.
"Continassa are targeting €40-€45 million."
Khephren Thuram would be a perfect signing for Liverpool
Thuram may have only been a Juventus player since 2024 but, during that time, he's had a massive impact.
In fact, at the time that the Old Lady went to sign him, Liverpool were also interested in acquiring his services but, in the end, the Frenchman chose the Serie A giants as his next club.
Despite his rejection, Liverpool haven't forgotten about the 25-year-old who has nine goal contributions from defensive-midfield this season.
The midfield stands at 6'3 and is an absolute powerhouse. One thing that the Reds have lacked over the last few years is height in their midfield which Thuram would easily solve.
He constantly recovers the ball for his team and is more than capable of launching attacking moves if required to do so.
Whether its a short or long pass, Thuram's balls often get to their intended targets with the midfielder adding a bit of stability to an otherwise crooked midfield.
Liverpool would've probably wanted more time to figure out whether he's the player for them or not but, since Juventus need money by the end of the month, time is not on their side with his current asking price being reflected by their need for an influx of cash.
If the Reds want him, they'll get a deal over the line and, on the face of things, it's hard to think of a better player than Thuram for them to target.
