Yan Diomande is the player who has been most-linked with a Liverpool move this summer.

The 19-year-old has been setting the Bundesliga alight this term with his performances for RB Leipzig among the best in the league.

Diomande can play on either wing comfortably and, because of this versatility and his keen eye for goal, several clubs are vying for his transfer.

Paris Saint-Germain are the Reds' main competitors at the moment and, since Lepizig could end up wanting around £150 million to prise him away from the Red Bull Arena, his transfer would be a massive risk.

So, just in case the transfer doesn't work out, it seems like Richard Hughes has drawn up a four-man shortlist as back-up options for the club to explore.

Richard Hughes is eyeing up three more players in case the Yan Diomande deal fails

Hughes and Michael Edwards are the ones who do most of the transfer work.

But, as has been proven by the Reds' recent arrival of Victor Munoz, Andoni Iraola still has a lot of say in the incomings and outgoings.

The Spaniard was one of the key driving forces behind Munoz's transfer to Liverpool with the Reds trying to complete deals to bolster their ranks as soon as possible.

Despite the attackers arrival, Liverpool still want another attacker with Diomande being their dream target.

However, since competition for the Ivorian is increasing, the Reds are starting to cast their eyes away from the attacker and are looking at other options to bring in with Ben Jacobs now outlining three of the players in the Reds' sights.

"Liverpool will sign another attacker/winger in addition to Victor Muñoz," he wrote via his personal X account.

"Optimism remains on Yan Diomande, but due to competition with PSG, and Leipzig's asking price, there are other targets.

"Understand pace is the key criteria. Also on the list are Köln's Said El Mala, Brighton's Yankuba Minteh and Lille's Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

"All options in case Diomande doesn't arrive.

"Bradley Barcola another player Liverpool have looked at this summer."

Liverpool wouldn't need anymore attackers for a while if they signed any of their reported targets

During the 2025-26 season Liverpool's attack massively let them down.

The Reds lost Luis Diaz in the summer with Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo both failing to meet expectations.

And, even though they brought Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak in for a combined total of £241 million, neither of them have done what they were bought to do.

Indeed, the fact that Munoz has signed is good news for the club but, if they want to be competitive and fight for trophies again, they need more than just a 22-year-old from Spain.

This is why it's unsurprising to see several attackers still being linked with an Anfield switch.

If we're being honest, any of them would be a rather impressive coup for Liverpool but, one thing is certain, no matter which player they end up bringing through the Anfield doors, their attack will be settled for years to come.
