Midfielder agrees move as Liverpool transfer now edging closer
Liverpool have a lot of change coming their way this summer.
The Anfield outfit have already been linked with an abundance of new players after they only finished fifth in the Premier League last time around.
Most people expected the Reds to easily retain the title and perhaps even win the Premier League but, unfortunately for them, that was far from the case.
Even though many players are expected to join Liverpool, a lot could also be on their way out with several members of Andoni Iraola's squad reportedly on the chopping block.
Of course, the Spaniard will want to evaluate each of his players in Liverpool's pre-season but, for some, it already feels like they have one foot out of the door.
Curtis Jones already has an agreement in place with Inter Milan
Curtis Jones is one of the most likely players to exit Liverpool this summer.
The Englishman was left on the sidelines far too many times by Arne Slot last term which led to him refusing a new Liverpool deal and wanting to seek pastures new.
Of course, with Iraola in charge, that could change if the former Bournemouth boss wants to include him as a regular part of his plans.
But, if he goes the same way as Slot, Jones will almost certainly not be a Liverpool player by the end of the 2026-27 summer transfer window.
In fact, things already seem to be heading that way after a fresh report from La Gazzetta dello Sport has shared that Jones already has a contract in place with Inter ahead of his potential move.
"Indeed, they hope the Reds will be convinced it's better to settle for an offer perhaps around €25-30 million rather than lose Jones for free in a few months, when the Englishman will officially be free to reach a pre-agreement with any club other than Liverpool," they wrote.
"Another detail not to be underestimated is the player's willingness, with whom Inter already have a draft agreement.
"He firmly believes his time in England is over and, above all, is intrigued by the prospect of experiencing something outside the Premier League for the first time."
Liverpool cannot let Curtis Jones leave this summer
Even though Slot didn't trust Jones all that much last season, during the games he played, he was one of the Reds' best players.
He never stopped running and, no matter where he was deployed, whether it was in the centre of the park or as a full-back, he always put in the maximum amount of effort possible.
If he had more than just a year left on his contract, the Englishman would be worth an awful lot more than he is at the moment.
That is, especially if Elliott Anderson is worth £116 million.
However, since the Reds have got into a habit of letting their players run down their contracts, they've backed themselves into a corner and now, there isn't really going to be a good outcome for the club.
Inter clearly want to pay as little as possible for Jones so, they'll hold out until the very last moment to make their move.
This is far from ideal for Liverpool which is exactly why they need to offer him a fair new deal rather than let him exit for nothing next summer.
