Liverpool told how much they’d need to pay for 23-year-old star

Liverpool have been at the centre of attention for a lot of deals already this summer.

Four members of their first-team squad have already exited and, although three new players have been brought in, they've still not managed to replace Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King has been the Reds' main source of goals and assists over the last few years so, the 2026-27 season is certainly going to be a bit of a change for the Anfield outfit.

Seeing Rio Ngumoha start on the right-wing against Newcastle United on Sunday was certainly strange, but, if the youngster can find the form he showed last term, he could become a key part of Andoni Iraola's plans.

However, since he's still so young, he obviously can't be used there for every single game which is why bringing in a new attacker or two is essential, especially with Hugo Ekitike still out injured.

Many players have been linked with a Liverpool switch but now, the Reds have been told exactly how much they'll have to spend if they want to bring in one of their main targets.

At the start of the summer transfer window, Liverpool saw Yan Diomande as their ideal replacement for Salah.

In fact, it was clear that the club expected the deal to be completed as soon as the 2026 World Cup was over with almost every journalist saying that it was a done deal.

However, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid then decided to enter the race and, since Liverpool didn't want to overspend on the Ivory Coast international, they dropped out of the chase and made Bradley Barcola their main priority.

Since then, Liverpool have been in constant contact with PSG over a potential deal for the Frenchman with the two clubs trying to agree to terms that make sense for both parties.

An agreement between Barcola and the Reds has already been reached but now, as per an update from L'Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi, it seems like the Parisians are sticking to their guns and demanding a rather extortionate fee.

"In recent hours, Paris stood firm on its latest demands [for Barcola]: €140M. One more week," he wrote.

Liverpool must sign at least one attacker who can play for them now

As mentioned, many attackers have been mentioned as potential options for Liverpool to explore.

At the moment, Barcola, Ibrahim Mbaye, Dario Osorio and Yankuba Minteh are the most likely players to make the switch.

However, with negotiations for Barcola taking forever to agree, the deal for Mbaye stalling, Osorio still not being ready for the Premier League and Minteh being out injured for another three months, Liverpool are clearly running out of options.

If Minteh wasn't injured, he'd probably be the first player that the Reds would choose to sign but since nobody knows how good he'll be upon his return, signing him feels like too big of a risk for Liverpool to take.

Admittedly, time is running out for the Reds to make the changes that they need to but, if they manage to sign a new winger or just bring someone in as a stop-gap solution, fans would feel much better.

The ideal player for this would obviously be Barcola but, if the negotiations go on for much longer, they're going to run out of time and miss their chance to upgrade their attack.

This would be far from ideal, especially if the performance from Sunday's 2-2 draw against Newcastle is anything to go by.
