Liverpool gear up to make bid for 13-goal star

Liverpool still have a lot of work to do to their team before they're ready to compete for silverware again.

Last summer, the Anfield outfit spent around £450 million on new players with many people believing that the 2025-26 summer transfer window would set the Reds up for the next couple of years.

Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong are just a few of the players that Arne Slot and Richard Hughes brought in to try and bolster their ranks.

On paper, each of these additions seem solid but, in reality, they were far from enough with Liverpool finishing fifth in the Premier League table.

So, with all of this in mind, it's hardly surprising to see that many more players are now being linked with a Liverpool move.

Liverpool believe that their €115m bid for Bradley Barcola will be rejected

At the moment, Bradley Barcola is Liverpool's main target.

The Frenchman has two years left on his current contract with Paris Saint-Germain and at the moment, it doesn't seem like he wants to sign a new deal with the reigning Champions League winners.

So, this lack of interest in signing a new deal has caused many clubs to throw their hat into the ring to sign the attacker.

Liverpool and Arsenal are the ones leading the way at the moment with the Reds seeming to have a slight edge over the gunners.

In fact, Richard Hughes is about to make €115 million bid for the Frenchman but, as per a fresh update from L'Equipe, Liverpool expect it to be rejected which means another bid for Barcola could be on the way.

"After several days of discussions, Liverpool decided to move to a more concrete phase by sending an offer estimated at €115 million to Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola. It is expected to be rejected, but it is not insignificant," they wrote.

"The outcome of negotiations between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool for the transfer of Bradley Barcola is still a long way off. But, with just over three weeks until the transfer window closes, the Reds have decided to speed things up.

"According to English sources, the Premier League club’s management is expected to submit an offer estimated at €115 million for the French international.

"The details of the offer, including its fixed and variable components, various bonuses, and the percentage of any future transfer fee, are not yet known.

"However, this offer should allow Liverpool to move into a more concrete phase of their strategy to sign the 23-year-old winger."

Bradley Barcola is the perfect signing for Liverpool

For now, it's unclear what Liverpool's team is going to end up looking like by the end of the summer transfer window.

However, one thing that has been made abundantly clear is that change is needed and, if the Reds don't make some more additions to their ranks soon, they'll end up in a whole world of trouble.

As mentioned, their title rivals are already way ahead of them in terms of spending so, if Iraola wants his men to compete, he's going to need to convince Hughes and Fenway Sports Group to get some more deals over the line for him.

Of all the attackers linked with Liverpool, Barcola makes the most sense. The Frenchman has won the Champions League twice in a row and even scored 13-goals across all competitions last term.

Indeed, these numbers aren't incredible but, when Mohamed Salah only bagged 12, it's clear that their numbers are pretty similar.

Barcola is also only 23 years old so he'll have plenty of time to grow into an even better player which, with Liverpool's recent recruitment process, is right up their street.

He will end up costing them a hefty chunk of change but, for now, it seems like the Frenchman is the right move for the Anfield outfit.
