Fabrizio Romano confirms star jets out to complete move, in sign Liverpool deal is close
Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Thursday that an in-demand star has jetted out to his new club. It's a sign that one Liverpool deal is close.
Liverpool are in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over two players right now. Bradley Barcola is one, and has been for a few weeks now, while reports broke on Tuesday that Ibrahim Mbaye is wanted at Anfield.
The latter does feel like the 'easier' deal, if Liverpool are truly eager for it to happen. Fabrice Hawkins claims a €40m fee would get the deal done and that's potentially a steal for one of the brightest talents in football right now.
PSG are happy to sell, in other words. Mbaye wants out in search of more regular football and the Parisians have their own plans for rejuvenating an already-brilliant forward line.
One potential signing is Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco. He plays in Mbaye's position on the right and would replace him as a homegrown talent with a very bright future - even if he is six years older.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal is close and Akliouche is flying in to Paris to complete the deal. That's fantastic news for Liverpool, who know that signing almost certainly pushes the Mbaye deal further forward.
That's the direct replacement, after all, and we'd expect rapid movement on the Senegal star after this one. PSG have essentially sealed that deal with a €50m fee - they just need to get it over the line.
Once that happens, there's really nothing standing in the way between Liverpool and Mbaye. It's all happening fast.
