Liverpool transfer news: Agreement reached, super fast attacker is coming to Reds

A super fast attacker has agreed to join Liverpool.

We are entering the final lap of the transfer window. It is very much make or break for Richard Hughes. If he doesn't get things right his legacy will forever be a tarnished one at Anfield.

Right now, Liverpool are entering the season with just one new signing. Victor Munoz looks like an exciting player. However, he alone cannot fill the deep holes in the squad.

There are so many areas where Liverpool still need to strengthen. And injuries are piling up as well. We are still yet to see Jeremy Jacquet in action. Joe Gomez last a mere eight minutes in pre-season and he is weeks away from a comeback.

Giovanni Leoni won't be back until September.

So, the chances are Jacquet and Virgil van Dijk will be starting the game against Newcastle United on the first game of the season. If Jacquet is fit by then, which at this stage looks moot as he hasn't even trained ahead of the AS Monaco friendly.

If Jacquet isn't fit, who knows who will start alongside Van Dijk. Liverpool's alternative option is Mor Talla Ndiaye, who is still very raw because Ifeanyi Ndukwe currently doesn't qualify for a work-permit and is ineligible.

There are big questions marks in midfield. Alexis Mac Allister's and Curtis Jones' futures both remain up in the air. Jones looks the most likely to leave given the interest from Inter Milan but whether the Serie A giants are willing to pay Liverpool's asking price is another matter.

Either way, Jones doesn't really have a long-term future at the club. He has less than one year left on his current deal and there's a strong feeling he won't be extending.

Jones wants to be a clear starter and a star player and at Liverpool he's had years with no success trying to break into the side.

Mac Allister is the only midfielder out of the three who were signed in 2023 and who had contracts until 2028 not to extend his deal. Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai are now both on long-term contracts.

Given the Argentine's poor form last season, it's entirely feasible Liverpool would be open to a sale. Especially if a big offer comes in from someone like Real Madrid.

Of course, if that happens, Liverpool will also need replacements.

So, you can understand why Hughes has such a tough job from now until the rest of the month.

And this is before we even start to talk about the attack.

The attack was already dysfunctional under Arne Slot but now with Mo Salah having departed, Hugo Ekitike out injured and potentially Cody Gakpo heading out of the door, there's even more work to be done.

It's probably the area that Hughes is prioritising the most. He has made significant advancements trying to lure Ibrahim Mbaye to Anfield, and he is also moving to sign his PSG teammate Bradley Barcola.

Liverpool have wanted Barcola at Anfield for several years now. They tracked him at Lyon and made a move to sign him last summer as well.

Given his direct style of play, and speed he suits Iraola's style of football really well. Last season, Barcola was one of the fastest players in the Champions League ranking top five for the metric with a top speed of 36.7km/h.

Now L'Equipe are claiming that the super fast attacker has reached a contractual agreement to join Liverpool. The only thing that remains is an agreement over a fee with PSG but there is confidence between all parties that this will be struck, too.

So, it's very much looking like Barcola is heading to Anfield.
