Imminent departure confirmed for another key Arne Slot ally
Liverpool’s Premier League title-winning head coach Arne Slot has left the club.
Following his first season success the 47-year-old Dutchman struggled in his sophomore campaign. Slot paid the price when Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards opted for a change in the dugout - with Andoni Iraola the new man in charge.
The decision to remove Slot came as a surprise - with the appointment of Etienne Reijnen to the backroom team in the final stages of planning just prior to his sacking.
That deal was of course aborted and Liverpool have also dispensed with the services of several members of Slot’s staff. The club on Friday announced the departure of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Ruben Peeters and assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff.
Roderick van der Ham set to leave
There will be no space for the contingent under Iraola with Liverpool placing on record their thanks for the coaches’ contributions. And now according to a report on talkSPORT it looks certain that another Arne Slot appointment will be leaving the club soon.
“Tactical analyst Roderick van der Ham is also expected to leave Anfield in the foreseeable future,” the report reads.
Slot brought over Van der Ham from Feyenoord following his appointment - where he had previously worked under the tactician. He had worked under Slot for 95 matches - stretching back to 2022 - at De Kuip.
Van der Ham has held various positions with numerous teams since starting in football aged only 18. He has previously worked as a video analyst for the Netherlands’ Under-19s, RKC Waalwijk and Heracles. He was also employed as a fitness coach at NAC Breda.
Andoni Iraola bringing in his own staff
His work at Liverpool will soon be at an end however with it currently not known where he will pitch up next. Liverpool’s new first-team staff is in the process of being finalised with Iraola bringing over the core of his Bournemouth crew.
Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper have already been appointed with more names expected to follow in the shape of Pablo de la Torre and Tom Webber.
It’s a bright new era at Anfield and it goes without saying that remnants of the Slot regime won’t be sticking around.
