It’s official, Liverpool’s new right back is here and he's brilliant

Liverpool have finally solved their right-back issues with a brilliant player.

When Trent Alexander-Arnold left the club, he left them with a massive gaping hole.

On paper, Conor Bradley seemed like the perfect solution, the natural successor to his throne.

But in the last three seasons alone Bradley has missed on average around 15-20 games through injury. He's recovering from a very serious knee injury at the moment, and it's moot when he will be back and in what shape.

Jeremie Frimpong was signed the summer Alexander-Arnold left but he isn't really a right-back. He can play there if it's necessary but he's much better as a winger.

His place in the side though as a starter still has to be questioned. Whether Frimpong has a long-term future at Liverpool is very much up for debate.

Dominik Szoboszlai cannot be a right-back anymore

Arne Slot's solution last season to Liverpool's right-back problems was to play the Hungarian there.

Szoboszlai was able to provide the progressive passing ability from deep and he dealt with his defensive challenges very well.

However, he is a midfielder. He has made it very clear that his preference is to play in the middle of the park.

When Liverpool signed a new long-term deal with the Hungarian it was under the impression that he would be the future of the Reds' midfield.

It's why, he simply cannot be considered as a right-back option. Szoboszlai should only be used there as a last resort.

Liverpool did explore moves in the market for a right-back like Malo Gusto, but in the end opted against it.

Nonetheless, thanks to Iraola's genius move, they have actually found a right-back.

Ronald Araujo has become Liverpool's new right-back

When Liverpool signed the Uruguayan few will have envisaged him playing as a right-back or becoming the Reds' first choice option there.

He was seen as a much needed option to provide experience in the centre-back department.

However, with Jeremy Jacquet settling in brilliantly Araujo isn't needed at right-back especially when Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez also return from their injuries.

In the last couple of games, Iraola has opted to use Araujo in the right-back role and this has proved to be a masterstroke.

Araujo has been brilliant in the position. He has put in some of the best performances we have seen in that role for a long time. It's why he's become Liverpool's new right-back. There's no going back now, he's officially the first choice in the position.
