CRAZY deal could land Anthony Gordon at Anfield
Liverpool have a crazy deal on the table that doesn't make much sense. That's unless Anthony Gordon heads to Anfield at the end of it.
Liverpool tried to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United last summer. It's one that went to wire and very nearly over the line.

Joe Gomez would have gone the other way in a separate deal as Newcastle attempted to balance PSR concerns. Liverpool wished to take advantage by signing Gordon - a boyhood Red who went to the Magpies from Everton.
In the end, Newcastle found ways to fix their problems and keep Gordon. That saw them pull out of a move and the Scouser remained in the North East all season.
But could a deal happen this summer? We wonder. Especially as it might explain one bizarre proposed deal.

Ben Doak and Anthony Gordon
Ben Doak is on the market this summer and there's a surprise contender for his signature: Everton. The Toffees would like to sign Doak, per Sky Sports.
Now we can only imagine that Everton have had some sort of sign that a deal could happen. They wouldn't bother registering their interest otherwise as Liverpool don't do business with their local rivals.
No players has moved in a transfer between the two for over 20 years. It's hard to imagine that changing. There's plenty of interest in Doak from clubs that aren't Everton and no real need to agree a move with them.
But there's a complex chain of events here that could have an impact. Everton, for instance, hold a clause that gives them a percentage of any sale for Gordon.
Well, waiving that clause would make it far easier for Liverpool to strike a deal with Newcastle. Agreeing to do that would then open the door for the Reds to sell Doak to Everton.
And it's all something Liverpool will be interested in. They're losing homegrown players this summer, with Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving, Caoimhin Kelleher a step away from doing the same, Harvey Elliott being linked with a move away, and both Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah supposedly facing uncertain futures.
In other words, Liverpool need a homegrown player or two. Add in that Luis Diaz looks increasingly likely to leave and they'll need a left-winger, too.

Gordon ticks both boxes beautifully - and a deal with Everton is the way to make it happen.
