Transfer ACCELERATES after Liverpool scouting mission
A player's transfer is now accelerating after Liverpool embarked on a scouting mission. This one could move very quickly.
The winter transfer window is right around the corner and teams are getting things in order ahead of it. Liverpool will be active - they don't really have any choice there.
The Reds won't want to be active, mind, but their struggles this season make it impossible to ignore reshaping the squad a bit. Perhaps they only need one or two players but they need something to try and help this squad gel together.
Again, though, it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what. Do Liverpool need new starters or do they need a deeper squad?
The work us underway to find that out, including some scouting missions. One of those appears to have kickstarted a player's transfer, too - but will it be to Liverpool?
Liverpool watch Branimir Mlacic
Liverpool were at a Hadjuk Split match last week and they appear to have been watching defender Branimir Mlacic. Mlacic is an 18-year-old centre-back who broke into senior football this season.
Standing 6ft4, there's certainly the potential for Mlacic to become a dominant player. That's the hope for some of Europe's biggest clubs, who feel they might want to pick him up now and develop him themselves.
Sportske Novisti in Croatia claim Liverpool's scouting mission was for Mlacic and that they're not alone in chasing him. Inter have been linked and now Corriere Dello Sport claims that they'll accelerate their plans to sign the centre-back.
That's largely because of the increased interest from the likes of Liverpool. There's a sense that time might be running out to sign Mlacic for a decent price.
And so if Liverpool feel Mlacic is the right long-term partner for Giovanni Leoni, they better move fast. The teenager's transfer is now accelerating - moving now might be all-important.
