Star confirms he wants to join Liverpool
An exciting player has confirmed his plans to return to Liverpool.
Even though we aren't seeing the results on the pitch, the Reds are building an impressive squad. Of course there are still areas where the depth could improve.
Richard Hughes could only do so much in one window. But he and the rest of the club's staff know that this is a long-term project. It's not something that is going to click overnight.
There is a long-haul and a long trust. Most of the players signed five or even six year deals at the club this summer. That shows the amount of dedication they have for the cause and how much Liverpool believe in them.
One of the strongest departments at the club right now is probably the goalkeeping section, where there are two world-class goalkeepers competing for the no.1 spot in Giorgi Mamardashvili and Alisson Becker.
Behind them Freddie Woodman is a trusted third-choice, with so much senior experience in English football. Then you have Armin Pecsi, who is a Golden Boy nominee and regarded as one of the best young goalkeeping prospects in European football.
Kornel Misciur is also very highly rated by the club, and he's one to keep a close eye on.
But it's also important not to forget about Vitezslav Jaros, who is out on loan at Ajax, and who did make a couple of appearances for Liverpool last season and very much caught the eye.
Now he's doing the same at Ajax, having prevented the most goals out of goalkeepers in the entire league (3.43) and having the best pass completion rate (88%) in the entire league among goalkeepers as well.
So, he's exactly what you would want in a goalkeeper. He makes crucial stops and prevents his team from conceding more than they should while also being good with his feet and capable of being part of the build-up phase.
At 24-years-old, Jaros is not giving up on returning to Liverpool either.
He has given an interview with De Telegraaf where he confirmed that his plan is to return to the club and that his 'ultimate goal' is to replace Alisson and Mamardashvili to become the club's no.1 goalkeeper. When he does that, Jaros also wants to win the Champions League.
“If I say I’m satisfied, how can I improve? When I’m ready to become Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper – especially with two formidable competitors like Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili – is difficult to say," Jaros said.
“Taking their place isn’t easy, but that’s ultimately the goal; and once I succeed, I want to win the Champions League.”
Those are ambitious words but Jaros has shown himself to be a very talented goalkeeper and 24-years-old is still very young. At the same age, Alisson was still only playing in Brazil and was only about to move to Roma as their second choice goalkeeper.
His numbers prove that he can be a star in the making and because of his age he has plenty of time to reach those heights.
It's nice to hear his head is still very much focused on returning to Liverpool.
