Special centre-back could make Champions League debut for Liverpool
A Liverpool wonderkid could be in line for a Champions League debut at the San Siro.
We've seen this script before. A few years back when Liverpool travelled to Milan, Tyler Morton was called into action during an injury crisis at the club.
Morton stepped up and announced his name to Liverpool supporters with a fantastic performance that earned praise from Jurgen Klopp.
Now under different circumstances Liverpool are once again potentially lining up a Champions League debut for an exciting young wonderkid.
The only difference is that this time it's not going to be against AC Milan but Inter Milan.
Liverpool are entering this game on the back of an extremely poor run and amidst a number of injuries. Wataru Endo, Cody Gakpo, Jeremie Frimpong and Federico Chiesa are all unavailable.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah has been omitted due to his comments after the Leeds United game.
It means that the Reds have named a small squad. Only 19 players will be travelling to Milan and three of them are merely kids.
Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha could be in line for action.
But the most intriguing inclusion has been that of Wellity Lucky's. The 19-year-old defender already made his debut for the Reds in the League Cup this season, and he is very highly regarded.
He signed a three year contract extension with Liverpool in the summer despite having interest from Manchester City, Real Madrid and many other top European clubs.
Now there's a good chance he could make his Champions League bow given Liverpool's lack of options in defence.
Conor Bradley is likely to start the game at right-back. However, with Joe Gomez having played a lot of minutes and Ibrahima Konate in poor form, Lucky could easily feature.
He may not start the game but a cameo is definitely a possibility. It all depends on how the match transpires and whether Liverpool will be holding onto a lead or whether Inter will run riot.
Either way, it's massive recognition for Lucky. Albeit a debut will come as a surprise given Arne Slot doesn't like to give young players a chance, but it's something to keep an eye on.
It's definitely one of the rare positives to come out of the chaos of this week that is happening right now.
