Richard Hughes to secure perfect Liverpool deal for £69m star
Liverpool still have a lot of changes that they could make to their first-team squad.
The 2025-26 season has proven that there are still some cracks within the Reds' team that need filling.
Indeed, they did spend an obscene amount of money on new players in the summer transfer window but most of their resources were spent on their attack.
However, with the number of injuries that the Anfield outfit have suffered across the board, it's clear that some new players still need to be brought in.
Several names have been thrown around as potential targets for the Reds and now, one of the most intriguing suggestions of the lot seems to have emerged.
Liverpool consider 'ambitious bid' for Eduardo Camavinga
One area of Arne Slot's team that could do with bolstering is his midfield.
Of course, players such as Dominik Szoboszlai, Florian Wirtz and Ryan Gravenberch often occupy the centre of the park for Liverpool, but, with the number of games that teams play in a season, depth is essential.
Gravenberch is one of the Premier League's best defensive midfielders, although he often shows up, he can't be forced to play every game.
This is why fans have often demanded that Liverpool look to sign a new defensive midfielder and, now, that seems to be exactly what's about to happen.
That is, according to a report from the Daily Briefing who suggest that the Anfield outfit have made 'initial contacts' for Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga.
The report goes on to say that any sort of bid for the Frenchman would be an 'ambitious' one, especially with how important the former Rennes player is to Alvaro Arbeloa's team.
Journalist Mark Brus outlines that a bid would cost Liverpool a minimum of €80 million (£69 million) but their interest is supposedly 'serious.'
Eduardo Camavinga would be a statement signing for Liverpool
Adam Wharton is likely to be the player that most Liverpool fans expected to come in.
However, with Crystal Palace looking to move Jean-Philippe Mateta on, the fact that him, Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi will have all been sold by the London-based club means that a deal for Wharton is highly unlikely.
That's not because they all play in the same position but, because if they allowed the Englishman to leave, the entire spine of their team will have been destroyed.
Of course, they have other options that within their squad, but, their FA Cup win last term was mainly down to the impressive performances this quartet put in for Oliver Glasner.
Camavinga would be an exceptional signing for Liverpool and even though Gravenberch is just as good as the young midfielder, it would give him some serious competition and perhaps force him to play even better, which, after the form Liverpool have been in this term, is certainly needed.
