Richard Hughes makes first move for £69m star
Liverpool are already one of the busiest teams in the transfer market with the 2025-26 season not even finishing yet.
Before the Anfield outfit ended up in fifth place, nobody expected them to have another busy window this soon after spending £450 million on new players.
However, since things didn't go as planned and the club performed well below their usual standards, changes need to be made as soon as possible.
This has led to several players being linked with an Anfield switch every day and now, Richard Hughes has reportedly made his first move for Liverpool's second signing of the season.
Liverpool have made an enquiry to Borussia Dortmund about Felix Nmecha
Felix Nmecha is a player who has only recently been brought up a potential target for Liverpool.
He currently plays for Borussia Dortmund and, although he took his time to prove his worth, he's now one of Niko Kovac's first names on his team sheet.
The German is currently representing Germany at the World Cup and he's even scored an assisted a goal already.
His best position is as a defensive midfielder but he has been played slightly further up on occasion too.
And, since Dortmund are always looking to move their players on, it's hardly surprising to see Sport BILD report that that Reds have now made an enquiry about acquiring his services.
"Max Eberl has recently contacted Felix Nmecha's representatives to express Bayern's interest," they wrote.
"Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool have all inquired about Nmecha. Real Madrid also has him on their radar.
"Nmecha has a €80m release clause in his contract, valid in 2027. A year later, in 2028, it would be around €70m. For this summer, the price is negotiable.
"Dortmund don't want to sell, but would consider offers in excess of €100m. Bayern are actually unlikely to sign a high caliber midfielder this summer, but Nmecha remains on their list."
Felix Nmecha would be an impressive signing for Liverpool
Nmecha's brother, Felix Nmecha, currently plays in the Premier League for Leeds United.
The German has had a bit of a rough time upon his return to England as he only managed seven goals across all appearances.
He did chip in with three assists but, if his younger brother Felix follows in his footsteps, it would be a massive waste of money for Liverpool.
In the Bundesliga this term, Nmecha has contributed to eight goals and, while that may not seem all that miraculous, for a defensive midfielder, it's pretty impressive.
The 25-year-old would offer Andoni Iraola a different option in the centre of the park and, even though he has a release clause worth around £69 million, Bild have claimed that Dortmund would accept less than that total.
Iraola still obviously has a lot of things to work out such as what's happening with Curtis Jones before adding any new midfielders to his but, statistically there isn't really a more cost-effective option on the market for Liverpool right now.
So, with this in mind, a move for Nmecha could easily come to light, even if they are facing plenty of competition for his transfer.
