Richard Hughes close to agreeing INCREDIBLE double deal

Richard Hughes is close to bringing an incredible duo to Liverpool.

Let's be honest, we were not aware of the club's sporting director's game. Hughes had endured an uneventful summer last year during the opening first months of his tenure.

Then there were long months when it felt like Liverpool were going to lose some of their key players on a free transfer this summer.

But in the end Hughes pulled through and secured the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. For Trent Alexander-Arnold, Hughes had failed, but the Liverpool academy graduate pretty much was already destined to join Real Madrid.

Now though, things are about to get even more exciting as Hughes looks to deliver what could be an incredible summer in after what has been a brilliant season under Arne Slot.

This summer could see Liverpool land a formidable duo, the kind of double deal we haven't seen in years.

And it's going to be a very exciting prospect for the Reds.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Jeremie Frimpong is set to join Liverpool with only the announcement from the club remaining.

Frimpong is an exciting arrival for the Reds. He's a world-class replacement for Alexander-Arnold, who will give a new dimension to Liverpool and help Slot's side evolve.

He's been incredible at Bayer Leverkusen over the last couple of seasons and was one of the most important players in Xabi Alonso's invincible season in the Bundesliga during the 2023/24 campaign.

Hughes though isn't stopping there. He's about to bring in another one of the key pillars of Alonso's side.

Romano has claimed that Liverpool are very much advancing on a deal to sign Florian Wirtz and they are 'extremely confident' that a deal can be signed for the German international.

Meanwhile, Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Liverpool have already agreed personal terms with Wirtz.

Wirtz won the Bundesliga Player of the Season award last season. He's one of the most exciting young players in world football right now.

At 22-years-old, and despite an ACL injury, he's already played 197 senior games for Bayer Leverkusen. Along the way he has broken multiple records at club and international level.

There are no two ways about it. He's a generational talent and together with Frimpong Hughes is signing a duo that are going to bring so much excitement to Liverpool.

In the last two seasons, Wirtz has made 68 goal contributions for Leverkusen. Frimpong on the other hand has made 43 goal contributions in the same period.

That's 55.5 goal contributions per season on average for the last two campaigns between the pair of them.

Liverpool have already scored goals for fun this season. Adding these two to Slot's squad is going to make the Reds an unstoppable force.

As the club closes in on a deal to sign both of them, Richard Hughes must be given credit for the work he has done to get Liverpool to this stage.

He's taken a massive market opportunity in landing Frimpong and he now looks to be beating Bayern Munich to the signature of Wirtz.
