Liverpool managed to beat Fulham 2-0 in their Premier League clash on Saturday.

The Reds finally added three points to their tally and created a comfortable four-point gap between themselves and sixth-placed Chelsea.

Indeed, the Blues do have a game in hand over Arne Slot's men but, since their next top flight clash is against Manchester City, it feels unlikely that Liam Rosenior's men will win that clash, especially after Arsenal blew the title race wide open.

Although it's good news that Liverpool are in the Champions League spots, the fact that the club are scrambling to finish in the top five just a season after winning the title is massively concerning.

However, in the first half of their clash against the Cottagers, there were some glimpses of the old version of Liverpool with the Reds easily on top of their opponents.

But, after Curtis Jones was taken off at half-time due to injury, things changed and Slot's men found themselves on the backfoot.

Curtis Jones is one of Arne Slot's most important players

Although Jones has been left on the bench by Slot an awful lot this season, as soon as the Dutchman plays him, his quality is evident.

Not only does the Englishman add an extra bit of energy to the centre of the park but he also links up every area of the pitch by himself.

For example, as per Sofascore, in the 45 minutes that Curtis Jones was on the pitch he completed 37 out of the 38 passes he attempted whereas Ryan Gravenberch completed 12 out of the 12 he attempted.

Indeed, Gravenberch was one of the Reds' most valuable midfielders last term but, even just looking at Saturday's game, it's clear that Jones is the better option for Liverpool at the moment.

Every time Slot chooses to take him off the pitch, the Reds seem to lose control of the game which is exactly what happened against Fulham.

Jones is an exceptional talent and, if Slot chose to play him more, he'd probably be on the cusp of getting into Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad.

However, since he's not been playing despite his importance, he's not in contention.

This is why it's hardly surprising to see Jones looking for a way out of Anfield this summer.

Liverpool may end up moving Curtis Jones on this summer

Seeing as though Liverpool's midfield is their most stacked area at the moment, it's been hard for Jones to make his way into the team.

This has caused many rumours to start emerging with several clubs from across the globe linked with an interest in the Englishman.

In fact, the team most-linked with Jones has been Inter Milan who tried to explore a deal in the dying embers of the January transfer window.

Since then, talk of Jones exiting has failed to calm down which is far from ideal.

That is, especially since Alexis Mac Allister could also be on his way out of Anfield over the next few months.

As the summer transfer window quickly approaches, decisions will need to be made by Liverpool and, if they make the wrong choices, not only could it be the end of Slot's tenure but they could end up even worse off next season than they currently are.
