Richard Hughes is about to make the best decision possible for Liverpool
Anfield has been swamped with change since the start of the 2025-26 summer transfer window.
Most fans thought that Liverpool's form would improve after all the money they spent on new players, but, in reality, that's been far from the case.
Of course, there has been the odd occasion when the best version of the Anfield outfit have emerged but more often than not, Arne Slot's men have ended their games as the second-best team on the pitch.
So, when their poor form is taken into account, it's hardly surprising to see fans demanding for change or for their club to at least extend the contracts of some of their first-team squad.
Since the summer, the amount of change in L4 has halted significantly but, that doesn't mean that work hasn't been going on behind the scenes.
Liverpool are ready to accept Dominik Szoboszlai's contract demands
Dominik Szoboszlai has been one of Liverpool's best players this season.
Indeed, over the last couple of weeks some of his teammates such as Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike have taken most of the headlines, but, in terms of consistency, the Hungarian is the one leading the way.
So, it's hardly a surprise to see that Liverpool are 'ready to meet' the demands that Szoboszlai has set down to extend his Anfield stay.
That is, according to a new update from TEAMtalk who share that the Reds are planning to 'accelerate contract talks' with their Hungarian playmaker with the midfielder's future now one of their main 'priorities.'
Szoboszlai's camp are demanding that Liverpool increase his wages to around £250,000-per-week with the Reds set to recognise how important he is to the club by accepting these figures.
Others such as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will still be ahead of him but he'd be in the same pay bracket as Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
Dominik Szoboszlai extending his Liverpool stay could be Richard Hughes' best piece of business yet
Although Hughes' transfer approach was lauded by most Liverpool fans in the summer, ensuring that Szoboszlai's future is with Liverpool could be more important than any of the players they signed.
As mentioned, the midfielder's form has been among the best in the Premier League throughout the 2025-26 season and, without him among Liverpool's ranks, it's hard to even think about how far down the table they'd likely be.
The fact that Szoboszlai has played all across the pitch this season and is still being seen as one of Liverpool's best players is no easy feat to achieve.
If the Anfield outfit were to lose the Hungarian, it's hard to see who they'd be able to bring in that could replace what he does.
Granted, Wirtz is taking up the number 10 role at the moment but, the fact that Szoboszlai can seamlessly transition into most positions on the pitch is something that can't be taught.
At the moment, these are all just rumours, but, if Liverpool manage to secure the Hungarian's services for another few years, their future could be very bright.
