Richard Hughes clearly sold wrong Liverpool star
Liverpool's midfield is one of the only areas of Arne Slot's team which hasn't suffered a long term injury yet.
The trio of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch is one of the best in the Premier League and, even though Florian Wirtz has found his way into the Reds' plans, it's clear that these three have a strong relationship when playing together.
Each player on the Reds' team have an important role but with the amount of running that Slot's midfielders do, they're arguably one of the most important.
And, although injuries haven't affected them yet, if two of them did end up side-lined for an extended period, Liverpool would be in massive trouble.
Of course, the Reds have a couple of youth options among their ranks with Stefan Bajcetic among the most highly-regarded youngsters in L4.
However, some questions have started to arise about the Spaniard, especially after what Slot just said about him.
Arne Slot admits that Stefan Bajcetic is still not ready to play for Liverpool
Bajcetic has been on Liverpool's injury bench for as long as many can remember. He broke onto the scene when Jurgen Klopp was in charge, but, due to how much football he played while he was still so young, complications arose.
This resulted in a length spell on the sidelines and even though he spent most of the 2024-25 season on loan to La Liga side Las Palmas, he's yet to play for Liverpool this term.
Bajcetic is a more than solid defensive midfielder and, if he could meet the standards he showed earlier in his career, and keep fit, he could be a perfect back-up for Gravenberch which would let the Anfield outfit focus their transfer attention elsewhere.
And, although fans thought that they may be able to catch a glimpse of Bajcetic in the near future, it seems like that's not going to be the case.
That is, according to an update from Slot during his pre-Newcastle press conference.
The Dutchman was asked about Bajcetic potentially getting a look in to which he replied: "He's not training with the team.
"He constantly comes close to the team and then has little setbacks."
This seems to have been the story of the midfielders life over the last few years and now, fans are wondering whether Liverpool chose to move the right defensive midfielder on in the summer.
Tyler Morton should have been kept at Anfield in the summer
Although Tyler Morton's summer exit was mainly down to his lack of playing time at Liverpool, it still feels like the club should've fought harder to keep him.
Since exiting L4, the Englishman has gone from strength to strength with the midfielder becoming one of Lyon's most important players.
Although he starts as a defensive midfielder in most games, he's managed to have his say on a couple of goals and has really managed to prove his worth with the Ligue 1 outfit.
When Morton was first sold, fans were buzzing that they got around £15 million for their academy prospects who's best moment on his CV was his 2023-24 stint with Liam Rosenior's Hull City.
However, since he's been handed a chance to start each week, his game has come on leaps and bounds which would've been rather useful for Liverpool at this moment in time.
Of course, Bajectic could end up reaching Morton's level in the future but, since the Anfield outfit needs improvement now, it feels like Richard Hughes may have actually sanctioned the sale of the wrong Liverpool midfielder.
That is, especially with how often Bajcetic finds himself on the sidelines.
