Real EXCITEMENT grows that Liverpool star is about to do something special

Liverpool aren't in good form but there’s now a feeling that one star is about to come into form. Something special is brewing.

Liverpool’s form hasn’t been solid all season long, even before you consider the consecutive defeats. They just haven’t had any real consistency with performances - a fantastic 20 minutes will be followed by 20 minutes of dire football.

Perhaps that’s the nature of retooling a squad so dramatically after a title win. Or perhaps it’s just a run of poor form to start the season.

Either way, there’s a feeling that things have to change at Liverpool if they’re to save their campaign. You’re not winning the Premier League title unless you limit periods like this to just a few games.

You’re not going far in the UEFA Champions League, either, unless you find that magic formula. Liverpool are unquestionably still searching for it.

That formula will almost certainly require new personnel brought into the team and a shake-up of the current group. It’s a situation that’s generating some real excitement around one star.

Federico Chiesa's time is now

Tuttosport reports that Italy boss Gennaro Gattuso feels this is a real opportunity for Federico Chiesa. Liverpool need to try new things and that could mean starts for the Italian winger.

Gattuso is eager for Chiesa to get more games as he wants to pick him for the World Cup next year. He can't do that if the player isn't actually playing, however.

Chiesa's only start this season has come in the Carabao Cup and he hasn't had more than 20 minutes in any Premier League fixture. Despite that, Liverpool's record with him on the pitch is ridiculous and that stretches back to last season, too.

Chiesa has played just under 200 Premier League minutes across his entire time with Liverpool. In those minutes, the Reds have scored an incredible 12 goals.

It's a pattern that can't be ignored. Even when Chiesa isn't the one scoring or assisting, the effect he has on the team is undeniable and Liverpool are more dangerous when he's on the pitch.

Surely that leads to significantly more minutes? We're not exactly sure what more Arne Slot needs to see at this point - Chiesa makes Liverpool better.

So we're crossing our fingers, like Gattuso, that we're about to see more of the winger. The time has come.
