Race against time! New Liverpool agreement EXPECTED on deadline day
Liverpool are now expected to strike a second deadline day agreement for another signing. The Reds are having a busy day.
Liverpool opened deadline day by finding an agreement with Newcastle United for Alexander Isak. The Swede is now set to join the Reds before time runs out.
It'll be a British transfer record fee, too. That was certainly expected but the craziest thing about it all is that Liverpool aren't done.

The Reds also want to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. Now, that's been the case all summer long, as with Isak, and Palace haven't been entirely clear over a deal.
Chairman Steve Parish outright said that he wanted to sell Guehi before the deadline as they can't afford to lose him for free in a year when his contract expires. At the same time, head coach Oliver Glasner has publicly said he doesn't want Guehi to leave as they can't find an adequate replacement.
Liverpool have kept talks open as the Eagles make up their mind and it's starting to sound like they might have.
Marc Guehi deal now expected
Ben Jacobs and Paul Joyce both now claim that there is real optimism around a deal between Liverpool and Palace for Guehi. The pair also say a medical is booked in for London if the go-ahead is given.
Jacobs actually goes as far as saying a deal is ‘expected’ on deadline day. It is, however, a ‘race against time’.
Liverpool need to completely find terms with Palace, get Guehi to sign the contract, and fully push through a medical. The formal stages at the end can be done after a deal sheet is sent to the Premier League but there’s a lot that needs to get done before that.
This does all sound promising, though. Liverpool could seal their Ibrahima Konate replacement a year in advance here, with the Frenchman also coming to the end of his contract.
A deal of around £35m has been suggested for Guehi which could end up being a bargain. Liverpool get an extra year of a great player, while also avoiding the mess of him being a free agent next year and all the competition that brings.
Fingers crossed.
