All the glory is forgotten about when you start the season as terribly as Liverpool have. Right now Slot's side are in the bottom half of the table and look completely atrocious.

The performances have lacked direction and structure and the results have been even worse.

After all the spending and coming into this season as champions, this is simply not acceptable.

Slot's job is now undoubtedly under threat. It's up to him whether he can whether the storm and turn things around. At this current moment, this doesn't look likely but anything is possible.

We can talk about the tactics and the lack of rotation but ultimately the biggest problem Slot faces, which will inevitably be his downfall is his lack of willingness to integrate young players into the team.

Jurgen Klopp made this a habit and Liverpool benefitted tremendously. But even before Klopp, promoting young players has always been a key philosophy of the club.

It's how FSG stay profitable and it's how Liverpool have made a name for themselves.

Just take a look at the players Liverpool's academy has produced over the years. From Phil Thompson to Ian Rush, then Michael Owen, Jamie Carragher, Robbie Fowler and Steven Gerrard.

Even under Brendan Rodgers we say players like Raheem Sterling emerge into the spotlight.

Slot's track-record has been poor so far. Even in the Netherlands, he's never been a player to do this regularly.

At Liverpool, he mismanaged Jarell Quansah, who has gone onto play for Bayer Leverkusen and become an England international since leaving Liverpool.

Slot has frozen out Tyler Morton, who could actually be a useful squad player at this moment. Instead, he's at Lyon, dominating Ligue 1.

Now he's doing the same with Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha. Giving them limited playing time, sometimes no playing time at all.

Ultimately, against Forest, he could have used Calvin Ramsay as a right-back and allowed Dominik Szoboszlai to play in midfield. It's probably what Klopp would have done.

Slot went the other way, and then when he needed more control in midfield he decided to take off his midfielders for attackers.

The season is long. Coaches need to use all their players. Slot doesn't seem to have the grasp of this. Last season, he got away with it. But ultimately it's his biggest problem and what will be his downfall.
