Mohamed Salah's season so far has been full of set-backs and difficulties.

Liverpool's struggles on the pitch have contributed to him having a slightly less impactful start to the season than he is normally used to.

On top of that, he's faced disappointments off the pitch, too. Coming in only fourth place in the Ballon d'Or awards is an insult to a player who enjoyed a remarkable campaign last season and was the essential part of Liverpool's Premier League triumph.

Recently he was not even included in the FIFPRO XI of the year, missing out on the recognition to players like Cole Palmer.

That combined with the added scrutiny of Liverpool's struggles being front and centre of the media attention has put a lot of pressure on Salah's shoulders.

Especially considering he has often been the scapegoat for the media for Liverpool's poor form, which is completely unfair.

Things are not about to get easier for him. His life is about to get even more hectic. Salah is approaching one of the busiest periods of his life.

He's got a hectic schedule in November with important games to play for Liverpool in order to claw back the deficit to Arsenal and then he's got an international break on top of that.

Meanwhile, in December yet more important games are coming for Liverpool and on top of that he's about to compete in the African Cup of Nations.

Winning that trophy with Egypt has long been a goal of his. He's come close before, losing to Senegal on penalties in the final back in 2022.

Now he will be even more eager to win it.

Egypt have a new ambitious head-coach in Hossam Hassam who is very eager for the country to finally experience continental success.

He's so eager he's keen for Salah to join up with the squad early, including more than a week before the tournament starts in order to play in Egypt's friendly match against Nigeria.

Salah is not keen to do this and he would rather join up with the camp later, with his preference to play an important Champions League game against Inter Milan for Liverpool instead.

The Daily Mail reports that he's now set to sit down with Egypt officials next week in order to discuss his important next steps. These are expected to be crunch talks, and Liverpool will be hopeful an agreement can be found that keeps Salah at the club for as long as possible.
