Liverpool's underrated star proves his worth to Arne Slot
Liverpool have so many big stars that it's easy to allow some of them to become underrated.
Everyone has a role to play, but some players receive the limelight more than others.

The dirty work behind the scenes in Arne Slot's team is just essential to the club's success as someone scoring a decisive goal or making an assist. The engine room is full of selfless players.
And of the most underrated members in Liverpool's team is Dominik Szoboszlai, who many within the fanbase appear to have forgotten in this offseason while the focus has been on new transfers.
Szoboszlai rarely gets the credit he's due
Last season, the Hungarian midfielder played as Liverpool's No. 10 and he 'failed to deliver' the expectations placed on him - the number of goal contributions a typical playmaker would produce.
Comparisons were made to Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United, Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City and Martin Odegaard at Arsenal, to name a few. In reality, Szoboszlai is nothing like any of them.

But that isn't a slant on him. He was misclassified by most onlookers. Szoboszlai is more of a No. 8 with an added goal threat, just as Alexis Mac Allister is, except the Argentinian plays a lot deeper.
The reason Szoboszlai is placed so far forward is actually in order to get the most out of his off the ball work, which involves a lot of high pressing. He empties his energy tank each time he plays for us.
But the arrival of Florian Wirtz - a player who excels where the Hungarian doesn't - has cast doubt over what Szoboszlai's role is going to be moving forward. He's been forgotten in a sense.
Of course, the club's record signing is going be fielded in his best position and that causes a problem for Slot with his previous No. 10, but the pair could always play alongside each other.
When the Reds visited the Etihad last season to play City, we saw Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones play as duel centre-forwards as a way to pack the midfield and overload the Pep Guadiola's side.
In the preseason match against AC Milan on Saturday, Szoboszlai got on the scoresheet and was influential throughout his 45 minute cameo and that's exactly how he'll be in the Premier League.
Nothing has to change, Slot merely just has another dynamic to utilise throughout the season with Wirtz. And this isn't meant to be a slant on the German either, he absolutely deserves the attention.

But the extent of Liverpool's summer transfer window has led some members of the title winning side to be brushed aside a little. A collective effort will be needed if we're to retain our crown.
