However, since the Reds spent an unfathomable amount of money in the summer, no moves have been finalised.

This hasn't stopped the transfer rumours from being shared of course with Liverpool now being handed the perfect opportunity to sign one of their former transfer targets.

Antoine Semenyo's future has been a massive talking point in the world of football over the last few months.

The attacker had a release clause worth around £65 million that could be activated in January with Liverpool one of the frontrunners for his signature.

In the end, the Cityzens were the ones to get a deal over the line but this has made some people wonder what's going to happen to players such as Omar Marmoush.

Before he went to AFCON, Marmoush was already being linked with a move away from The Etihad with City willing to discuss potential deals for the attacker.

The Egyptian was on the Reds' shortlist before he chose to join City and with him likely to be behind both Erling Haaland and Semenyo in Pep Guardiola's plans, a move for the former Eintracht Frankfurt man could be on the cards.

And, the fact that Liverpool are in dire need of attacking reinforcement means that a deal could potentially be struck.

Of course, City won't want to sell to their rivals so a rather hefty fee would likely be needed to prise him away but if the Reds were serious about a move, it's one that makes complete sense.

Omar Marmoush could become Liverpool's new Egyptian King

Seeing as though Mohamed Salah's Liverpool contract is set to expire next summer, he could end up exiting at the end of next season.

Of course, there's also the possibility that he could leave before his contract is up, but, at the moment, that feels unlikely.

But, even if he doesn't leave until next season, the Reds still need a succession plan in place and on paper, there's not really a better option than Marmoush.

He can play on the right as well as a number nine and he already has Premier League experience.

Marmoush is also just 26 years old so, even though he's getting into his prime years, the Reds would likely get a fair few years out of him.

The attacker has a keen eye for goal and even though he's been out of favour with City, if the option of getting a transfer over the line presents itself, the Reds would be silly to not try and explore it.

That is, especially since he was dubbed an "incredible" player by Guardiola last season.
