Wrexham's fairytale story continues and now they could be targeting one of Liverpool's very own.

There were a lot of sceptics when Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds first became majority owners of the Welsh club. Languishing in the National League, what has transpired since then has been nothing short of a Hollywood miracle.

Wrexham have fought through the divisions and now find themselves just one step away from the Premier League.

Recently, McElhenney has admitted that he takes inspiration from Liverpool.

"Hopefully one day we'll be competing with Liverpool, but their song, You'll Never Walk Alone, is just so unbelievably beautiful for a football team and for a community," McElhenney told the Men in Blazers podcast.

"One day I hope to mash their dreams into oblivion, but for now I celebrate along with Humphrey [Ker, Wrexham board member] because he loves Liverpool. Interestingly it's also [striker] Paul Mullin's team and so I've followed Liverpool and I'm so happy for them and their supporters.

"But really that song exemplifies what we're trying to do as well."

About an hour's drive away from Liverpool, Wrexham now has the opportunity to not just take inspiration from the Reds but perhaps even some players looking for more regular first team minutes.

Given the club's close proximity to Liverpool and the fact that they are now in the Championship and have Liverpool's former CEO, Peter Moore, working for them as an advisor, there is an opportunity here for both teams to work together.

Including to bring in a dream signing according to Football League World pundit Liam Grice, who recently told the publication if he could choose one signing Wrexham make this season, it would be Jayden Danns.

"One realistic signing I'd love Wrexham to make this summer would probably be, maybe not a permanent one, but a loan signing: Jayden Danns," Grice said.

"He has struggled a little bit with injuries in his loan with Sunderland this season, but there's a proven goalscorer there. We've seen him do it for Liverpool, and I definitely think he's got the ability to perform at Championship level."

Danns is a surprise name, given the likes of Jamie Vardy also being linked with a move to Wrexham. Not to mention the fact that he has very little experience in senior football.

Although what we have seen from the Liverpool youngster so far has been impressive. He's already scored three goals in just 193 minutes played for the club's first team.

That's a goal every 64.3 minutes. And it's not necessarily a fluke. Danns has been very prolific at youth level and he's been unlucky not to have been able to make his mark for Sunderland during his loan spell in the second half of the season.

Injury problems have frustrated him for most of the campaign. Danns also missed pre-season and was unable to catch Slot's eye during last summer but to his credit, he was given opportunities under the Dutchman and he took them, scoring in the FA Cup against Accrington.

A loan move to Wrexham is something we would endorse. Danns would get to play regular football at a relatively high level while remaining in close proximity to the club.

In the process, he could contribute to Wrexham's inspiring journey and return to Liverpool as a much better player.
