Liverpool want WONDERKID; club terrified Reds will steal second incredible talent
Liverpool are keen to snap up one of the brightest talents in British football. It's becoming a theme as the wonderkid is expected to move.
Liverpool are always eager to get the brightest kids around to their youth academy. They've been very good at this lately, too, with Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni looking certain to command first-team squad places in the near future.
More than that, they've managed to move players on for good fees, even if they haven't quite made it at Anfield. Ben Gannon Doak is a fine example of that, joining from Celtic and then heading to Bournemouth in the summer for £20m.
It appears Liverpool want to try and repeat that success story, too. Doak had barely featured for Celtic by the time the Reds moved for him - now they think they can do that all over again.
Liverpool eye Dara Jikiemi
The Daily Record reports that Liverpool have their eyes on Dara Jikiemi. The teenager is at Celtic and one of the absolute brightest prospects in their academy - if not the brightest.
But Liverpool are eager to snap him up. The claim here is that the academy staff are pushing hard for the club to sign him, which would initially be on scholarship terms.
Jikiemi isn't old enough to sign a professional deal just yet - something that could really hurt Celtic. The Bhoys stand to get a simple training fee for the player unless they can convince him to sign something.
Nottingham Forest are also sniffing around the player as interest grows. Jikiemi, a centre-back who can also play in midfield, appears to have the building blocks for stardom, leaving clubs keen to get in on him with a very low investment.
Doak followed this path and ended up a Premier League footballer. Jikiemi may well fancy the same fate.
One to watch for 2026, certainly.
