The countdown is on: Yan Diomande sets timeline to complete £87m Liverpool deal
It’s no secret that Liverpool have got their eyes on Yan Diomande.
The 19-year-old forward has emerged as one of the most exciting attacking talents in world football following a stunning breakout season with RB Leipzig.
Diomande joined the Red Bull-owned club last summer for a bargain £18m from Leganes in Spain, going on to take a starring role in the Bundesliga. He has scored 10 goals and provided seven assists to date as Leipzig plot a return to the Champions League.
The club are reported to have placed a £87m price tag on his signature - but remain hopeful that the Ivorian will sign a new deal on better terms.
That would guarantee Diomande staying in Leipzig for one more season before the German side cash in for a monster fee.
Top clubs now circling for Diomande
Liverpool are not alone in their interest - with TEAMtalk now reporting that Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are all keeping tabs on the African teenage talent.
But any decision on Diomande’s future is going to come LATE in the summer - with the player now prepared to wait until after the FIFA World Cup before making his next move.
“The teenage winger is prepared to wait until after the World Cup finals before deciding on his future, amid rival interest from Manchester United and Arsenal,” the report reads.
“Liverpool have been tracking Diomande closely for over six months and have compiled extensive scouting reports, but they are far from alone in the race.
“The Bundesliga side are open to a sale at the right price but are equally prepared to keep Diomande for at least another season.
“In fact, discussions have already begun over a new contract as they look to secure his future and strengthen their negotiating position.”
Diomande to replace Salah
Diomande is set to take a starring role in the North American event next summer in a very exciting-looking Ivory Coast attack.
Once the tournament is wrapped up it will be time to make a call on his future. Liverpool will be no doubt hoping he chooses Anfield as his next destination where he can follow in the footsteps of Mohamed Salah - who is leaving in summer 2026.
